imageWhat I Liked (and Disliked) About The Outriders Demo | MMORPG.com

PCF recently released a demo for Outriders that will give players a sampling of the early game experience with the added bonus of carrying over to launch. These are some things I like (and dislike) about the Outriders demo.

I really wanted to like this game, but I don't. It's not a bad game, but for me, it's nothing special. I'm not into shooters, but I do like games with a story so I thought this one might be worth a try.

I found the controls to be clunky and that duck or cover mechanic to be very awkward. It seemed to me that the game is designed and balanced around co-op play, but SP can do it as well. For the demo, only two classes are viable and I really didn't like either one. The pyromancer or technomancer is really more my place style, but both of those don't do very well solo. I don't know anyone who is playing this so that is how I would have to play it unless I just drop in groups and that isn't my thing either.

If anything could have kept me in the game it would have been the story, but I thought it was a convoluted mess and the characters forgettable. I usually don't knock voice actors, but the voice acting this this was pretty cringeworthy at times.

I may check it out at a later date to how it looks after the full game is out. For now, I have no plans to pick it up.

Be interesting to see what changes are made. The demo was a good taste of what the game could offer. From all the other videos around the place I will be grabbing this to play.

I really enjoyed the demo, mainly that even at such a low level I had gear that altered my abilities and made me rethink the way I was using them, completely changing my style with just a new hat. I was making decisions and builds at the start that most games only offer near the end.

Also as someone amusingly pointed out some time ago, the cover is for the enemies!

(The technomancer can benefit from cover however, being a long-range DPS/healer)

I am actually surprised by how compelling Outriders is to play. I thought I would dismiss it quickly, but I'm 2 hours into my first play session and smiling a lot.

All of them do well solo. If you only found two of the classes "viable" then that's a L2P issue

I really like looter shooters games, so this one is gonna be a day one purchase for me. It's got a couple of different flaws, but is over all fun to play.

From the looks of the loot/crafting/ and mod system I think they've done it quite well here. There seems to be a lot of different ways you can gear up a character.

Restarting a whole segment after dying - dislike
    Only 3 skills - dislike
Long load times, and frequent mini loads - dislike
    No manual healing - dislike

Still, it has tremendous potential, and enjoyed playing the whole demo till level 7.

Shall keep an eye on Outriders, but no sale at this juncture.

I dislike cover mechanics with all my gamers heart. It always feel clunky and like the game is trying to force me to do something (After so many years of mmos holding my hand and herding me, I have become oversensitive to that kind of design).
Other than that Ihad decent amount of fun, and there are things that looks promising... But not 60eur worth of promise, at least I want to watch it a bit before pulling the trigger.

Downloading the demo now to check it out. I've got to see the loot part of this looter for myself... I like loot :)

And I really like the game using the good ole trial/demo version (try before you buy), instead of the early access bull or f2p (f2p needs to die).

Liked it overall but gonna wait for a sale to jump in with my buddies. Had a few co-op issues im sure theyll sort out by the time i get it.

What i found funny is when i played i just picked trickster and ran around killing things while my mate picked technomancer and spent most of his time behind cover and said the game felt like playing destiny. When i convinced him to play pyro behind my devastator he got into the game a lot more.

Mixed feelings on steam due to bugs and disconnects. and people in here says the covers are awkward and the story line is meh..poorly skill choises and lifeless animation..no gun impacts.

I think i will wait and see what happens to this game..i like my steak cooked in to coal before i eat it :D

Seems to me those "what I liked" points mean it must be an awesome game... as combat, classes and itemization are the entire point of the game.
