    The question is: what type of rights / claims does an artist have for their work on deviantart. Everything depends on that answer.

    My real question is, how can you run a piece claiming that some card is a knock-off of some fan art without showing both pieces in question side by side so that people can compare to see if they look unduly similar?

    Well i saw the take on the two pieces and it was definitely a copy.Part of it was an identical match and i think was the hand/arm that was shifted for some reason,i think the owner said likely to make the art fit the sizing.
    He laid one over top the other so you could see was deff a copy.

    Wow. That head and claw do look identical when rotated to fit the card art.

    What kind of dumbass thinks he can get away with this undetected especially when copying the work of the kind of person who is into the whole thing enough to make fan art?

    I always laugh at the creative types. There's eventually gonna be every line on the paper configured in everyway for someone to collect royalties. XD #EndGame

    And most creatives can't function properly at a 9 to 5 so...which comes first? :tired_face:

    While not having too much hope cause frankly who knows, but this is one of the games I really do hope eventually works well with Steam Proton. I am not going back to windoze lol. #nope

    A video is not a picture.  This calls for a picture.  A video says "I may or may not have anything interesting to say, but if you watch this whole video, you'll likely find out that I didn't".

    No, it really isn't.  "Inspired by" or "somewhat similar to" is not at all the same as "plagiarized".  It all depends on how similar the work is.

    It isn't, like many other articles here. Clearly this site does not focus solely on MMORPGs, so one can expect to see content not related to them.

    If you want that sole focus you will have to look elsewhere.

    The video is astonishing, Mr Felix just seems to have rotated the other artists original work, redid the bit with the Deviant Art water mark and did a tiny bit of tweaking. Having seen that it is no wonder WotC took immediate action.

    As Wizardry pointed out, if you watch the video he take his art apart and pretty much pastes is 'exactly' over the same bits and it's an exact copy.

    Not sure they the article doesn't show that but it is in there if you look.

    1, not in this case, it's a copy.

    2, being a creative type, I can say that you'd be surprised at how many creative types not only work in 9 - 5 jobs but also thrive. They might prefer to be doing something else but they can take care of themselves. And they usually do the 9 - 5 while still working on creative projects in some capacity.

    As I used to tell parents when I worked at a University in the admissions office "most people who major in the arts, who are not successful in the arts, are able to transition to other careers. For those who fall under the "starving artist" category, that's about something else."
