Magic: Legends has had a rough launch in its open beta last week. The ARPG set in the iconic Magic: The Gathering multiverse has seen its share of criticism over its monetization, loot drop rate and much more. Awesome great to see they are listening and adjusting on this "beta" game and not a full launch game.

It is not just the outrageous shop or the performance. It is a grind game, fair enought, but it is the most booooring one. 8 Waves of this, kill this then the towers, kill it again and again the same towers.... Legenadary Mobs are a joke. And the 50.000 Aether cap...jezz.

And tbh the "It is in Beta" does not count on this one.

Cryptic released this piece of garbage knowing full well that their monetization system was absolute shit. They were happily content to take advantage of it until they realized that this is 2021 and thankfully, most people with any sense have an automatic revulsion to scummy ass business practices like these.

Cryptic simply can't be trusted not to go back on their word. They'll nickle and dime people the moment they get the chance. This game is dead in the water and it will be nothing more than a blip anyways once PoE 2 and Diablo 4 come out.

Combat felt more fluid as well.

Even with the IP being what It is, I don't foresee this game lasting long.

It has received pronouncements of death at what has become a common rate, either before or immediately after the game becomes available to the public.

I play games that have been declared dead for years on end that remain commercially viable in the eyes of those that operate them.

Gamers have proven themselves incredibly inaccurate in such prophecy.

In the pursuit of maximum profits companies charge what they feel the market will bear. They will of course be happy with doing so. Should they push beyond that causing overall profit to decline they will pull back until it recovers.

It has nothing to do with 2021. Their action was directly in response to how their take on the model was received, which would had been the same in previous years if players had rejected rather than embraced what was offered. If players had overwhelmingly rejected f2p models when they were first introduced they would have been abandoned entirely early on rather that dominating the market today.

Cryptic can be expected to continue making decisions intended to maximize profit, as will every other for profit company, now and forever. Any other expectation is delusional.

It plays differently from Diablo, PoE, and other ARPGs I've played, so fancier versions of those won't necessarily be seen as replacements for this, not that play of any by necessity precludes play of others.

they should just rework the whole game, it sucked needs a lot more then cash shop fixes.

I would not bet against this game. No idea how many fans out there who might enjoy this who have never even played an ARPG and only the card version. There might be an unseen market to tap here.

The game is accessible to anybody that wants to play AND it has a fully functioning cash shop.

    The game IS fully launched.

I want to know what they worked on to be honest. We have 5 area maps. Game size wise, this is by far one of the smallest launched I've ever played.

Shhh! Apparently saying something as obvious as that is being a hater.

I still remember when they did the exact same thing with Neverwinter and Bill Murphy here lost his patience and said "Screw it, I'm considering this launched" and reviewed it before their official release.

This is what they do with all their games. "Open Beta" is just fun and games for them. As if fully released games don't also listen to feedback and make adjustments,
