Throughout 2020 one of the things Robin struggled with was my waning desire to play Guild Wars 2. However, it seems that lull might be over, as Robin has rediscovered her love for Guild Wars 2.

Actually I went to rediscover my love for GW2 like 3 weeks ago, and oh oh, let me tell you, download took more time than actual gameplay, not even a sparkle

I have been playing the Icebrood saga with a RL friend to catch up on things, and I was really impressed with the storytelling, and also the new WvW-esque PvE map for the Charr civil war.

What I wasn't impressed with is all the new mission types and grinding currencies and all of that. It gets to be bloated, and it's especially overwhelming if you've been out of the loop for a while. I think if I wanted to seriously play the game again, I'd have to play super casually and keep my goals limited. And I have so many personal issues with keeping goals limited.

I got back into it way back during the start of the Pandemic, in 2020, finished the Legendary Axe  Astralaria, joined a new guild, got back into Fractals, finished the Living Story to the point that I could start to get a Skyscale, and even did some strike missions.. and just as quick I fell back into it, I fell back out, and was like.. Meh.

Not sure what it was exactly that all my interest died.. it just did.. meh.

I rediscover my love for MMOs all the time.....typically followed by rediscovering why I left them.

Guild Wars 2 has this really cool sand box like approach to things. There is a lot of stuff to earn and a lot of ways to earn that stuff and it's up to the player to figure out what's fun and to do that. I'm leveling my 5th character to max stats and will start going for full legendary on my main soon. With the legendary armory coming this will help all my characters. Imo guild wars 2 has been the best MMO I've played

I tend to have on-again-off-again relationships with MMOs (and grand RPGs, for that matter) anyway. I used to have this with RuneScape (2) when I was young, and have had it with most 50+ hour Final Fantasy games. I've had it with Lord of the Rings Online and Star Wars: The Old Republic, and I'm pretty sure I'm currently going into similar experiences with Final Fantasy XI and World of Warcraft: Classic. I love taking breaks from MMO's to make time for other games, but sometimes it's hard to get back in.
