The closed beta for the MMORPG Elyon, developed by Krafton and published by Kakao Games, is now over. There is a lot to be said about the combat system, enemy design, and game world. But how did the initial story hold up? Is it engaging enough to keep a player's interest? Read on about Kevin's first impressions.

Game isn't even out of beta yet. Maybe have some patience and wait until full release to give a proper review, as opposed to a buggy, unfinished predecessor?

Ok im still skeptical about this game, but I liked what I saw from the cbt videos. It looks like the format changed a lot from A:IR.

From the looks of it (saw some overview of the game on youtube) it's a PVP heaven game. Has so many options to pvp in. People should enjoy it if they like PVP and obviously the game doesn't suck.

Wasn't impressed once I seen a Tera like reskinned monster move set. In a different game. And put off by the really sub par creator and with limited key sets to combat with and no controller support if I wanted the option to use a controller it made me go eh glad to test it happy I didn't buy it too test it. Till otherwise worked on more. If you like the state it's in. Well then by all means enjoy it. If not it's a good idea to wait or pass atm.

Not sure if joking... It's not a bad game, sure (with the big cash shop elephant in the room, of course) - but 2021 with all of its releases will push this one to to bottom half. Sure, people will be playing it, we can safely assume most of the Tera whales will move here - but game of the year? Not even close. This game is the epitome of mediocrity, with a very generous dose of mobile and cash shop systems ready to be milked.

I will play it occasionally, sure - but I wouldn't really recommend the game unless you liked Tera and don't mind / can stay away from the cash shop. The game certainly is nowhere near the top of the MMO gang - not even in 2021, with all its releases (WoW 9.1, GW2:EoD; ESO exp., New World, Lost Ark and more).

Game isn't even out of beta yet. Maybe have some patience and wait until full release to give a proper review, as opposed to a buggy, unfinished predecessor?

The game will not change in any significant way. The Korean version has been out for quite a while and the NA/EU publisher does not have any way to make meaningful changes to the core systems or anything like that. They are there to ensure the localisation, make sure the game and servers run well and above all (for Bluehole) push the cash shop out once the game goes live.

Actually, the CBT1 was not even that buggy. I personally ran into one bug and one ~10m period of high lag. That was it. The game is optimised well and is much closer to bug-free than most western games.

The only limiting factor in this review might be not enough time to delve into high-level content and missing cash shop - otherwise the game now is as it will be on release and ready to be reviewed for what was played.

Another example of how mmo development has stalled in every way. It even as the exact same character pop-in issues as TERA did a decade ago. Ridiculous.

    Go watch Massively's preview,actual gameplay.

I saw all i needed to see,i wouldn't give this even a pass because it looks CHEAPLY made and lame in many ways.

I'd give it a 3/10 meaning don't waste your time.
Solo gaming with narrow lanes/dungeons ,all this game is a bunch of npc's thrown around to either click or combat. That is about as cheap a game as you can deliver.

Using art assets from Tera and BDO kind of sums up the lack of effort here. This is just imo a cash grab,a cheap game reforged after a failure with very little change.

This is not a game to stick with like other b2p. This is a cheap cash grab game made b2p for a quick buck. After a while they will slowly place p2w items on shop, battle passes, lootboxes etc to make up with the losses. Since the people won't buy into the game after the initial release hype it will die or become f2p.

Why do i say this? Well the developer is known for p2w. Game already have the core made for p2w. It only needs the shop for it and people to swipe. Game is cheaply made and made for some reason b2p just so they say "we will not make it p2w we promise!" To attract the gullible crowd from paid youtubers just like bless.

Not the first time i see this. If you wanna get bent like in Archeage Unchained,Astellia,Bless then be my guest.

Agree with every word, this is just more of the same-ol cash-grab assembly-line "development" that passes today.

surprised no one made the Archeage reference regarding PVP. If the end game is only pvp, I'll take a huge pass, but thats the nature of asian games, mostly p2w, i wouldnt be surprised of this is the same as archeage.

The only reason to bash Elyon Online atm is the pvp. If you dont like pvp Elyon sucks :) It has FFA pvp and Faction vs Faction wars 24/7. Those who love the concept will play for PvP, not for story or anything else.
