Just the mention of "we made it to the FINAL BOSS" turns me right off.Zones should NOT be linear paths to some BOSS,like wtf is this 1990's ?

I want a plausible realsitic looking world and to interact like a real person would, not this whatever it is "stuff to do"must beat BOSS crap.

Why can't bosses run away and hide, requiring them to be pursued and hunted down?  instead, they just wait in their presumably safe places for the inevitable.  Add AI, not HP to make an encounter tougher (and more interesting).

Maybe because min maxers would complain that intelligent enemies take too long to take down (trying to avoid imminent death) so they can't rush content.
Hi, min-maxer here.  In just about every game I've played in the last decade.  Anyways I can confirm that, at least for me, I prefer more difficult bosses and content in thr PvE arena.  Makes it so there's satisfaction in getting the loot.  Like, hey everyone isn't capable of completing this with ease.  With zero difficulty whats the point in even playing it?

Can't change anything. When the writer says, mobs respawning other mobs was annoying, it shows that even the leads of this MMO website want simple stupid.

Mobs respawning specific mobs like they do in D2 is awesome. Yes annoying, but adds a bit to the challenge (unless of course the mobs aren't even challenging).

Games that cater to "gear scores" will never be anything more than boring AF after a few runs. Make it hard and you keep away the masses, make it easy and your vocal minority screams. Go right along in the middle and you keep everyone happy.

Watched the IGN video just to remember how awkward their brand of "action combat" looks (and feels judging by my time in the game last summer.)

Neither the long cool downs on skills that don't do enough to deserve any kind of CD and animation lock of the slower weapons (I could never see myself using a 2HD hammer - just watch the video toward the end where almost every swing is a miss because you're animation-locked and the mobs move fast.)

But hey anyone who has whined about animation canceling in ESO, this is your game. Enjoy the self rooting, animation locks and cool downs... in an action game :)

Last summer I found myself gravitating toward ranged weapons, not because I didn't want to get in there and melee, but just because they feel slightly less awkward in combat.

Yes, adding repeatable dungeons was a good and much needed move to flesh out the PvE but now I'm back to my original doubts about the most basic part of the game, the combat itself.

And hey, here you go. Saving you a trip to YT or IGN:

"massive 20v20 pve/pvp battles" what a joke WoW was doing 20v20 battle grounds 20 years ago!

hundreds off millions... Amazon just trying to lose money to write it off.

Am I the only one who didn't want dungeons? To me New World felt like a hark back to MMOs from BEFORE WoW before the holy trinity and dungeons, and thats what made me love it.

It seems they have now caved to pressure from the WoW fans and made it another WoW clone now which is disappointing to me.

I love retail wow after hating on it for well over decade. The raids are hard af and i'm loving working with a team again because you need to build that SYNERGY.

Only games (that i played) where this level of synergy was needed within your team was EQ2, SWL, and now Wow Raiding (retail), i should mention SWG as well but if you ever played the end game you just need to be good, and the other players too ofc.

But to come out with another wow clone, really?

Maybe there is hope as it's PC only so they could make some top shelf hard af content, that's the direction they need to go, it's what keeps peeps in wow.

These care bear console mmorpg's are boring af because they are too easy, they are designed for the player to WIN!!! Mainly cause they are on consoles.

This is PC only, could be hope.

its not the difficulty. Most actually enjoy that, its the form the difficulty comes in. Usually in mmo's its one shots. There are other ways to make things challenging but in my experience there is little to no interest from the development side.

So if one shots is the beginning and end of your designer ideas, maybe stick to creating less challenging content so people wiil actually use it.

Sounds like a curious decision to have a press event where there aren't enough people to fill a group and run the dungeons content the way it is meant to be run. I mean, you would think that if they were interested in showing it off the way it will look, then there would be enough people in the group to complete it....

To be fair, this isn't just a problem with this session as this happens more and more now that all these events are digital, and the team would have been four people, but we did have a no-show. Still though, it was worth pointing out the lower party count as it caused us to struggle with almost every encounter. The mid-dungeon boss took about 5 tries and we only beat it because I finally figured out how to tank...somewhat (and that boss doesn't summon adds).

That said, their original announcement of expeditions says "3-5 players" so dungeons should, theoretically be playable at 3. But that's assuming those three players have ten, twenty hours into their characters and builds, not 5 minutes to rush, only to change their build and playstyle entirely halfway through like I did.

And a min-max setup for Boss A doesn't have to be the best setup for Boss B.  But how many games are capable of delivering choice and variety without there being a single, best solution?

Logic, my dear, merely enables one to be wrong with great authority.

I wish they published a news in Lost Ark. No information is given about the game. They are still dealing with a game like New World. While they have a great game like Lost Ark on their hands.

Fair enough, I withdraw the "whole world of easy mode" comment. 3 man teams are a good way of getting players into the idea of grouping. It should have been tough with only 3 and was, seems spot on to me.

Sounds like a crappy eso dungeon where you just keep throwing yourself at it until you win or give up.

Thanks for explaining that, and pointing out the obvious! (that I didn't even think of!)

I suspect that I'd rather see things pose some challenges than seeing people whip thru it. Even if some of the challenge was new characters, and 5 minutes to get used to it...better to have it appeal to long term playability.

Good piece for sure, and despite my comment in some other thread, I'm having a hard time not paying attention to New World, it's definitely got some potential to be something more enjoyable for me, than I've seen in quite a awhile.

    NO!!!

Spawns should NEVER look like computer code spawning in mobs, they should spawn in for soem REASOn and NOT in our view so the world looks more immersive and real than just boring computer automation.
It is perhaps my biggest peeve with Valheim,i can;'t stand the way the game devs spawn in mobs right on top of me just to annoy me,it looks terrible and ruins everythign about immersion.

Then you KNOW it DOES matter because those very devs put out a warning when you use devcommands that using them will ruin >>>immersion !!.So it tells me that YES devs recognize the importance of immersion to keep the world looking and feeling real but sadly most just don't know how to implement ideas.

Mobs SHOULD roam about the zones/world and spawn in random areas so that we don't see them just to keep the world populated.
I mean the very obvious no IQ needed  reasoning is that we are SUPPOSED to be >>>>killing these mobs, they shouldn't be coming back ever but we know they need to come back ,just don't do it right in front of my face or too quickly.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

I hate combat skill cool downs, spells I can see, but melee combat often sucks in mmos like this. Too many times the creature you are fighting has a faster cool down and attack you faster than you can attack them.

If they add a skill to make you attack faster, that just means the mobs will get an increase as well.

New World's Expeditions Brings The PvE Content I've Wanted In Amazon's Upcoming MMO | MMORPG.com

New World's recently held a press preview showing off a bit of what the team at Amazon has been working on in the MMO. Expeditions were on the menu this time, with the team showing off the PVE dungeons they've been working on in a bid to add more PVE flavor to the MMO.

Resident Evil Village – 25 years is a very long time in the rapidly evolving game industry. It is enough to “take down” any monument games brand, especially with the horror game series. What is very limited in the way of expression is easy to again and again. Fall into the rut of the structure to the plot also go to a dead-end, difficult to continue to attract gamers.
