I really like the update, there was some log in/client problems for the first two days, but it fixed now. I played all day yesterday without any problem. Very beautiful space game and always potential to be better.
Are software engineers unable to produce anything of quality anymore? It seems like the norm for every game now. Star Citizen has been around for 10 years and in reviews all I see is the bugs.
Elite has been in development since 2012 and back then they promised ship interiors and we're still waiting...and it has bugs on top of miles wide inches deep gameplay with a broken game balance and MMO instancing and p2p networking that is 1990s tech
There isn't a game yet to pull it off flawlessly with possibly only No Man's Sky coming close yet with severe limitations in order to make it all work.
The problem is quite simple: It is Elite Dangerous. This game has always been about one thing only: minimal viable product. That is why its planetary tech in 2021, nearly 8 years after horizon still looks like a first-gen title unable to render even basic features like clouds, weather, caves, oceans and in some cases looks worse than its predecessor. David Braben mentioned ship interiors back in 2012 and nearly a decade later, they are still not in. Their multi-crew implementation remains broken years after release. Their current FPS looks and works like a 2010 shooter: toy looking guns, jerky movements, bullet spongy NPCs, and dumb AI. Their combined arms experience is something of a trainwreck: you can complete combat missions by hovering over the battle map dropping missiles at all the NPCs until you win. nobody fires back because ships and on foot players were never balanced...or tried to balance. In nearly 8 years frontier hasn't added a single additional ground vehicle, ever after touring "ground exploration" with horizons for the better part of a decade as a core feature...and guess what, they still didn't do this with Odyssey. Elite dangerous is a lazy game made by lazy devs who are just in to tick off a list of features. Now that they did "space legs" next is base building....and it will be another dumpster fire quickly forgotten while they move to the next cash grab.

Elite Dangerous made a large mistake by releasing this expansion too early and they deserve to be criticized for that.
But you're just spewing stupid hate when you complain both about them being minimum viable product and about a large list of features they don't have. You can't ever do both more stuff and also do everything better. That kind of improvement is not realistic.
