New World Details More Of Its Cash Shop Plans, No Plans To Provide Anything That Feels 'Pay To Win' | MMORPG.com
The New World cash shop has been something of a lightning rod the last few weeks in the MMO community after news that Amazon was testing an in-game cash shop during the latest alpha. However, it was the idea of adding boosters to the shop that drew criticism from across the playerbase.

Also players should have NO SAY in adding p2w crap. Most People are lazy and people wanting easy mode cashshop progression will ruin it for everyone else. Again to hell with profits. Game Longevity and health > 15% increase in revenue... at least it should be.
Catch up shit in the cash shop is p2w. Just as lvl boost are. They allow a players who paid to progress faster where a person who did no has to work for it. Thus allows faster progression.
A player who starts a year or so later should be behind and should have to work just as much as the people on day 1. If that is gamebreaking for them... who cares.
Devs just need to stop making games like ffxiv and wow where only current tier endgame matters and you would not need this crap. Older games did not have this problem.
Another method would be start players at cap lvl and do not charge anything if the lvling experiance is that shit. Think about it. Exact same effect, except amazon makes less money..... so i say lets do that instead and amazon can just eat the lost developement cost for trash content they want you to pay to skip.
The other Amazon games have failed...

I know nothing about the game, but lets take ammunition. Let's say you have to harvest items and then craft ammo, which takes play time. Somebody else can just "pay to not play" and buy ammo from the cash shop. Is that p2w?
If they sell health potions in the shop, is that p2w?

The universally agreed definition of P2W is some item that confers more power to the player than any other of the same type, and it is only available for purchase and cannot be gotten by just playing the game.
Almost no game has that, but if they make the chances of getting that item 0.0000001% after 10 years of play, it is effectively P2W.
That's why I use the term "pay to not play", where you can get the items by playing, and other people can pay to not have to play to get the item.

IMO they do know full well that cash shops are garbage monetization ideas but the don't care about those that hate it they only care about selling to those dumbasses that will spend added income on the cash shop.
Those type of people are too stupid to understand why even cosmetics are a really trashy idea.
All these lame ass studios are trying to do is find a line that crosses between buying a game and creating more revenue on top.If they are all concerned with skins then enable the tools so players can skin their own items.
They are trying to find that demographic where they can just dangle something in front of their eyes and they will bite at the bait.
So i can say that Amazon is going fishing for suckers and coming armed with various bait.

And reading more of the responses above all I see is Anti-Amazon.
I HAVE played in the New World past Alphas and with their revamps I am excited to see where the game is going.
I have seen not one hint at P2W elements so people need to stop ASSuming until proven otherwise.
If you don't like what you see, move on to something else.
I think NW is going to be a success IMO. I really enjoyed it once they removed the forced PvP aspect. 20 July needs to get here faster.
