Starting today, Arena Net is giving players a chance to catch up on the Living World content in Guild Wars 2 ahead of the next big expansion, End of Dragons, by giving away episodes of the content for free until June 22nd.

they give expansion as title said (path of fire/thorn) or just the "living world story", which need these expansions no?
i'm confused...
Proud MMORPG.com member since March 2004! Make PvE GREAT Again!
and to the other guy, its just living world story not free expansions lol,
I've already buried my hopes of End of Dragons to bring anything fresh to the older content and it will be probably another one-time rush with no replayability purpose other than to farm another stupid currencies for no reason.
I really don't understand the publisher's logic behind all of this. I know the title is f2p, but so much of a wasted potential it pains me to even think about it.

Unfortunately it seems to be the norm now a days that people always find a way to twist even good intentions.
You wonder why developers dont wanna touch MMOs? Because they know they will get nothing but flack for their effort.
People should be ashamed of how entitled they've become.
I mean...if You wish to receive shabby content, You are 100% entitled to do so and even pay for it, noone's holding back It's like if someone's spitting at You and yet You say it's raining. Games are just getting worse and lazy in design, regardless of the mmo we are talking about.
I just don't see a reason to force unnecessary positivity towards people/companies, whose actions blatantly prove me they don't deserve my money/respect anymore.
I paid for GW2's content, enjoyed it to some extent, but i still can see the slopy path aNet is marching, and if criticizing that should make me feel ashamed, then y'all are just clowns
And i'm not even talking about LWS2 giveaway, if anyone couldn't notice that. This is a cool move, yet doesn't make the situation any better for their future.
The way Anet operates it's business model is imo very lame.
They try and hook you in full time or you have to pay for the LW dlcs. They have a VERY heavy cash shop and THAT is the reason, they want to hook you in to spending.
buy b4 gone is their model, like buying a mount in the cash shop,it is a very simple lame tactic.Speaking of mounts, what is the point of jump puzzles with mounts lmao,a very idiotic developer.
You really do need to buy the expansions,so this is a half assed move by Anet, like i said just a lame gimmick. They COULD just give you all the LW content right now but no they are releasing in sections again so you need to unlock each one, again to hook you in hopes you spend in the gem shop and of course get you invested to buy the expansions which you'll need anyhow.
A cash shop is a very simple HELL NO from me,you can take your cash shop game and shove it.Otherwise just play the less gimmicky tactic business model of EQ2 and get all the stuff for free anytime you want and imo it is a better game anyhow.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
it's nice they are giving them to hype the upcoming expansion, but you can also buy LS chapters with in game gold. Each chapter is 200 gems which exchanges for about 67 gold right now.
How generous of ArenaNet. lol
Naturally, you are not going to do post expansion story (that is tied to the expansion itself) without doing the expansion story. It's like buying all Harry Potter books and only reading the last one.
dude, you can buy everything in the cash shop with in game gold. You wont find a more generous cash shop. Sure it has a lot of stuff for sale, but It almost feels like ANET doesn't want to make money. Everquest still, as far as i'm aware, has free to play restrictions that require subscription so it's not even the same business model.
MO even came out and admitted this.
I will admit, it often does feel like they are trying to find a way to kill their own company at this point, or at least demotivate anyone from spending money on content.
It's purely a move to try and pull in new people who don't have sticks up their asses, and no doubt when End of Dragons launches, it will have a optional bundle that will include PoF and HoT, so they are giving away the LS packs, to hype up new players into the game, to take advantage of this deal, and removing the feeling of needing to back buy the LS stories.
IMHO, this is not some noble charitable move by them, they are a for profit company, so I hope they have a plan in place to have this make some kind of profit for them, but given a lot of their previous blunders and screw ups that damn near killed their company, who knows what they are thinking.

I mean, ideally, exotics are good enough for end game, which includes, Dungeons, Raids, Open World/World Exploration, World Bosses, T1 Fractals, and WvW, the only thing they fail at is T2 and above fractals, which require AR, which is unique to Ascended.
Most of your Characters overall power/damage output comes from running meta traits, with your gear only providing something like a 1% variance in overall power from Exotic to Ascended.
So if you just wanted Good and not Best, that is dirt cheap and easy to come by in GW2.
