Swords of Legends Online Second Beta Begins Today | MMORPG.com
The second closed beta for Swords of Legends Online begins today. If you missed the first closed beta, you'll be able to hop in this time through June 8.
This game imho will not survive on b2p. The stigma of Chinese cultural identities is at its lowest in America because of the Cov-19. Gameforge will have to make a launch decision imho on F2P w/ sub bonuses or B2P.
Unfortunately, people like us will never win this argument, simply because people equate money/time differently and on a much smaller scale. What I mean by that is, the typical person that logs into any game has a set amount of time to engage with it. Other priorities might appear and determinations are made based on enjoyment-per-hour as it were. Thus the defense "well I only paid x and got y amount of time out of it." Couple that with it being B2P in this case, so they can start/stop playing whenever even if the game is bad now and improves later. Its all solid reasoning, since everyone's circumstances are different.
The main issue I have with all of this is that the cycle only gets worse for gaming as a whole. However, most people tend to not think outside of their immediate ideology, which of course is normal.
I get the EARLY hype,i mean people are easily fooled by a marketing video but at this point in time and having had access to live sreams ,i would assume most now realize this game is NOT that good.
It really doesn't matter because there will always be consumers who will just buy it anyhow, they see something, maybe a horse mount they like or nice costumes,it doesn't take much to bait in the average consumer.
I have played soooooooo many games, been there done that on almost every idea that i no longer want same old boring crap,i want something truly EPIC,something that wakes me up in the middle of the night and tells me to spark up the pC we are going gaming.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

You are entitled to your opinion, and certainly, this game may not be your cup of tea. You mention watching streams, but have you actually played this game? If not, I don't think it's fair to criticize it as a bad game and say people are being fooled by marketing videos. Do you have any specific critiques of the game?
SOLO isn't trying to be a WoW killer, and it's not reinventing the wheel. It is a theme park MMO from China that doesn't have any p2w elements, which is unique on its own. Unlike WoW, you can't even buy character level ups. It has action combat, faction PVP, arena PVP, dungeons, and raids as well as some QOL systems people enjoy including housing and other "leisure" activities. Basically, a lot of popular features from a variety of MMOs are present in this one. If you like that sort of gameplay, then I think SOLO is coming at an opportune time. I don't play WoW and other MMOs out there for a reason--I am bored with them.
Maybe you just don't like theme park MMOs, in which case you're not the target audience. I assume people here have some interest in MMOs given this is mmorpg.com. SOLO is much better than some of the hot garbage that's come out like the dog vomit that is Bless Online, which I think has been eaten and regurgitated for the 4th or 5th time? It's much better than other B2P crap I've seen like Astellia Online.
In that sense, it is different than some of the Asian MMOs that have been ported to the West. This isn't a game that's failed in China and has been ported in a final attempt to squeeze out some extra money. It's still going strong and will be actively supported and developed for the foreseeable future.
I think with a $40 price tag this buy to play game is worth giving a try. We'll see if Gameforge manages to screw it up.
Played the first beta and eh not sure I will get around to playing this tbh so today I went to uninstall it from the control panel which then proceeded to launch the gameforge client and start an update for the 2nd beta....
Can't seem to uninstall this crap till I do a long ass update?
EDIT: Indeed the uninstall buttong showed up after the download for beta 2.
Guess this lame launcher wont allow you to cancel an update and uninstall right then...you have to update then uninstall....lol

Brenics ~ Just to point out I do believe Chris Roberts is going down as the man who cheated backers and took down crowdfunding for gaming.
