Valorant recently celebrated its first birthday. As part of that celebration, Riot shared some stats from their tactical hero shooter. Valorant now boasts 14 million active players, and it's coming to mobile.

Let's not stop there let's aim for mobile to further the greed and to further exploit all the dumbasses that spend foolish amounts of money on these cheap 5 dollar games.
On the other side some of us are hoping and praying to see some better HQgames come out but with these studios making so much money off of cheap ass games there is no incentive for studios to make better games.
Seeing just how much the Foprtnites and valorants and GTAO,Destiny's are making off of passes and cash shops i don't see the mnarket receiving too many HQ games anytime soon.We are seemingly stuck in this duldrum for many years now, this might be like th Blizzard effect and might last 15 more years.
However seeing that there are soooooo many low budget studios out there we should expect NEW ideas to monetize NEW genres, new low budget games will arrive.I( can only assume that to the newish modern gamer from the past 15 years this is all normal behavior and to spend 50-150+in a cash shop is fine..ok carry on just yoru normal gamer tendencies.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
No fate but what we make, so make me a ham sandwich please.
f2p games with cash shops, and cash shops in general have been making millions since like 10 years ago
not a new thing, just the new thing is having phones powerful enough to run ports of games, so wider audience and bigger market
He also listed Destiny as one of the main offenders.
Actually the gameplay is not bad, they just seem to be focusing on all the wrong things.
When it was in beta and I got my beta access from a Twitch drop, I was really excited. Playing it before launch and right after, it was really promising, but what happened after let me down.
I was really hoping that they will add a Team Death Match game mode and other "fun" modes like Capture The Flag, Conquest, Payload, but all they do is:
- launch more and more ridiculous looking characters
- launch more and more maps
- launch more and more ridiculous looking weapon skins, they aren't even competing with trash Korean Online shooters from 2010, they already surpassed them in terms of trash skins without a shred of taste
- launch some stupid gimmick temporary game modes on rotation that nobody plays or is interested in that later get scrapped for even dumber gimmick temporary game modes on rotation that also get scrapped, rinse and repeat
One year later, they can't add a simple TDM game mode, or a Payload or something for the casual players.
I haven't played the game since 2020 and I don't think I will unless they add some of the things I'm interested in.
But don't get me wrong, whatever gameplay it offers is not bad. The game is very welcome and needed in the current Online FPS scene, because it breaks the cycle of stupid and generic Battle Royale fads (with a twist), it's a classic FPS, "Back-to-the-Roots" type of shooter and there needs to be more of these. I'm glad that there are 14,000,000 Valorant players and I wish them to get twice as more, just don't forget the casual players who don't have plans to be Super Gold Nova rank or whatever, the people who just want to shoot up some pixels after work in a casual and relaxing game mode and have a few laughs and then go to sleep.
