Well I suppose players need someway of getting of planet from the half finished post-apocalyptic world of FO 76. ;)

sooo..."I used to be an astronaut like you. Then I took a space laser in the knee"

Still, I'll wait for some gameplay (all I saw a was a teaser/cinematic so far). I'm not sure Howard is a reliable narrator when pitching his games...

Would this be the X-Box exclusive Star?

If so, get that crap off of here.

Xbox and PC. Xbox has a play anywhere plan. Xbox exclusives will end up on the PC and its a one time buy. Buy a MS title on PC you own it on Xbox and vise versa. Will be interesting if 3rd party devs make the same move with their Xbox games? They also called this game a Han Solo experience.

Weird cause... we own his "pitching his game" skills for TES as a series. We wouldn't have Morrowing without his pitching skills.
His ability to sell Ice to an Eskimo doesn't change what I said about the reliability of how he portrays things. If it helps to paraphrase: I don't trust the sales pitch and I'll take a "wait and see" approach to this one.

am I the only one who think, skyrim on space, means full of bugs and need modders to give life for the game?

If you are mad about FO76 idk if you are aware but its not main Bethesda Team working on it.

That's like being mad at him for something in ESO.
Nah, you're just making assumptions now. I'm not mad and didn't think I made any indication that I was.

For what its worth, I generally enjoy their games....after they've had a while to cook post-release which is another contributor to the wait-and-see approach. If it ends up on Game Pass though, then there'll be a lot less 'wait' and a lot more 'see' I suppose. :)

Ugh, I'm sick of Skyrim, how about some Morrowind? How about Morrowind in space? How about a Morrowind Remastered?

As one of the blockbuster games of the decade that happens to be under the same umbrella, Todd would call it "Skyrim in Space" even if it was nothing at all like Skyrim.
  • AeanderAeander Member LegendaryPosts: 8,060
That's because the only thing Bethesda is capable of doing is "Skyrim in X."
  • rojoArcueidrojoArcueid Member EpicPosts: 10,722
If its like Skyrim in Space then i expect it to have the same modding capabilities. Playing SKyrim with 1k+ mods is a completely different experience than what released in 2011.

    Cautiously optimistic

I generally like the Elder Scrolls games, but they're pretty basic in terms of mechanics. That was fine when I was a kid and I couldn't get enough of Morrowind, but by the time Skyrim released I was an adult with way more experience in games and so Skyrim just ended up being a bit boring.

A new IP, trying to achieve similar goals to the Elder Scrolls but in a sci-fi setting.....could be fun. If it supports HOTAS setups for space combat then I'll get it just for that. If most of the game is set on-planet and works as an FPS, then I'll probably avoid it.

I think he was sort of making an early excuse when he mentioned a pure sci fi Starfield would take too long.
SO that is why he mentions his realism effect done with the ship.Well unless the ship has a crew it won't feel very realistic.
Then on his talk about we join some sort of faction called constellation actually tells me more again.
When any sort of faction game comes along i want CHOICE and that choice extends the game outwards allowing for exploration that matters.SO this sounds more like ONE faction, you join it then all you'll do is enjoy your ship whatever that is,might just be a cockpit with a HUD and fly around to hubs.

I wanted a complete package way back when Eve couldn't deliver because yes it was possible but CCP simply didn't want to afford the ffort.

So i get the feeling this game might not be as robust as you might think because he is sort of hinting at that.Time will tell but for Microsoft, they will be happy to heavily market this and get millions to buy it on a whim.

Something else i pay attention to is TIME spent on a game.Well it hasn't even been 3 years since the last Fallout he was working on and then likely after that working on added stuff before starting on Starfield.

My guess no more than 2 years spent,so yeah you are not going to get much of a AAA game out of 2-3 years. What you will get is tons of corner cutting to make a game look bigger than it is.

Afaik they're still making ES6. Their plan has for some time been Starfield first, then Elder Scrolls 6 after that.

There go my hopes that it will have original gameplay elements. I guess it could have been worse. It could have been like fallout in space.
  • LamiaCritterLamiaCritter Member UncommonPosts: 94
And let me guess. Like 99% of sci-fi games the weapon "variety" will just consist of like... 2 or 3 guns and reskins of them?

They've been saying for years that Starfield would come before TES6 but it is also in the works.
