Aion Classic Launches Today ..

Less than 2 hours until launch.

Who's going to play it? For ( at least ) nostalgia ..thing, i'll do so, but NcSoft is kinda currently in my .. 'black list', because how they managed EU Aion players ( they sold us to gameforge ) and how they managed L2 Classic.

The only positive aspect of Aion Classic, is that it will be P2P. THAT is amazing. For how long .. we shall see.

I'll be creating a SM .. for the lolz and wins of course!

As someone that hasn't played Aion, is it worth jumping into?

Are you sure it's P2P? I downloaded the launcher and reserved/created a character and I didn't pay anything. I never played Aion and a friend suggested we try out the classic server, I don't think I'm going to sub to it just to try it out tho.

Edit....

I just checked the FAQ.. classic doesn Not require a sub but has an optional one along with optional Founders packs.. the benefits from subs and founders packs don't kick in till June 30th leaving the launch week where all players are essentially F2P.

Already created my Sorcerer so I'll hopefully jump in tonight.

@Moshra: depends. It's an mmorpg in the style of world of Warcraft as far as quest hubs.

The real draw is the unique world and the pvp.

There are rifts that will open letting in the opposition so you should know that and "quest" with guildmates.

But like any mmorpg, you get what you put in. if you want a social experience you will have to find a guild. If you want a group pvp experience you'll have to find a guild.

Yes, we get 1 .. "free week", and then the F2P kicks in, which from my point of view one simply cannot play Aion Classic with the restrictions from the F2P option!

You get no Kinah ( gold ), Xp is reduced, etc.

I wanted to try another class so tried archer but couldn't really get into it. Maybe I'll make another on the classic server to see if it's a better experience.

After trying the new starter zone on the regular server in anticipation of classic, I can say I really hated it. They ruined it.

Aion was kinda the first mmo game I bought where i went meh been there done that...I remember being disappointed at how poor the graphics were for running on cryengine.

The steel book that the game came in was cool!

First, we have P2P ( $15 a month ). Then, we have Daeva Pass ( $30 a month - or 28 days - ) with some P2W items on it.

And 3rd , we have .. the Gold Seller ( NcSoft ). They are literally selling Kinah in the in-game shop, via .. packs of Candies. A pack of 10 Candies costs around $11 which .. they are sellable to any in-game shop for 100k each. That's 1 Million Kinah ......just like that.

"But they are limited , 1 Pack per day" they said. Yup, but is actually 1 per character. Create 10 chars and you have 10 Mil Kinah ......... on THE very first day of release.

With Kinah, you can buy your BiS Stigmas, Enchanted Stones, Mana Stones .. basically what makes your char more powerful. And let's not speak how it will ruin the economy.

HOW in the hell can you release a game like this? I was SO happy to hear that it will be P2P. Didn't even knew about the Daeva Pass, let alone the .. almighty candies.

So its like $15 P2P + $30 Daeva Pass + P2W.

I think NcSoft wins the "First to achieve that", because I don't remember any other game having this .. options!

Such a sad thread watching the enthusiasm for playing an old classic and the excitement shattered by the monetization all in the space of a 9 hours.

Had me thinking about downloading it until I read the last post.

I'm..not sad. Maybe a bit disappointed but not sad because I know NcSoft and their ..dirty "tricks".

I did had hope, that's for sure and I really believed that it will be a ..Classic experience where the game is P2P and everyone plays ..fair, no matter how big your wallet is.

Oh well! Back to WoW TBCC!

From over 26k in queue on one server and over 6k in queue on another down to virtually no wait at all barely an hour or two after launch. I've never been so disappointed.

They had weeks to get this right and I feel like I remember the GM telling us they would do everything they could to keep P2W items out of the cash shop and try to keep it to Cosmetics. Now at launch we have P2W items and no cosmetics to speak of. What happened? Why couldn't just just be honest with us from the get go?

I really wanted to do that too, but..is in vein. On the very first day of release, people can make Millions of Kinah out of no where ( well, with their wallets ).

One must wonder, if in the very first day, there are P2W items, imagine how the cash-shop will look in say, 2 months. So why bother?

PS: I was wrong. With 11$ you get 10 Packs of Candies, each having 3 Candies. That's 30 Candies for 11$ which , well .. they are worth 3 Million Kinah, not 1.

There are some very unique classes in this game. I loved it but when I could not get past some areas because of groups at the zone entrance killing people I left. Pity I did enjoy it up to that point.

They said they "patched" the Candies. In KR they sold for 300k at launch. The "patch" was to reduce their price to 100k in NA, lol...while ( as far as I know ), they fully patched the candies in KR by not being able to sell them to the shop anymore.

Problem is, there is a limit of 1 Mil Kinah one can sold in goods to any in-game shop. When the..Candies buyers reaches this limit, they put them on the Player's Shop ( ala L2 ), and sell them for 80k each, so that other players may buy them and make a profit of 20k per Candy.

I mean , this are all "injected" money into the game and the economy will suffer deeply.

I'm happy they gave us 1 free week of ... P2P as I didn't bough any "Packs" because I wanted to .. see it first, thanks to L2 Classic launch, which now is a fully supported P2W Cash-Shop with full items on it. Aion Classic will follow the same path.

I've seen comments from "veterans" saying Kinah ( or tradable items - good items - ) is not P2W ( in a PvP Game?! ) because .. "reasons".

I see you are also a..veteran of MMOs. My question is : How the hell you've been playing MMos in the past ..15+ years and still say P2W is not .. P2W ?!

The only reasonable answer I came, is that you guys are also P2W the shit out of the games you play and so, being part of the problem, rather than ..fight it, is .. natural to say that .. you see nothing wrong "here".

Now do tell me, how many Candies have you bought?

If someone can buy an item in the store and sell that item for in game money AND there is no limit on it, then that is pretty much gold selling.

I can't believe I'm reading this from a .."veteran" MMO player, especially the last part.

It affects you DIRECTLY. PvP mainly and the server Economy. Indirectly, by being ..left behind in parties because you don't have +15 weapon/armor and +12 (or whatever the biggest) mana stones in your gears which you will not be able to afford because of the P2W aspect, hence...the Economy of the server.

Anyway, we are talking about Aion here, where PvP is a VERY big part of the game. Can't wait to see videos of 3 P2P players , vs 1 P2P, Daeva Pass, P2W player!

PS: I will just leave this here : Today a whale(i have his name but privacy intended for him, don’t tell me I made this up) in eltnen sold 750+ candys in private shop and advertised to players in lfg for 65k/candy. Bypassing the daily kinah limit. This guy restocked 3 separate times.
