Aion Classic launched last week and since then has seen players rush the servers to experience the MMO the way it was (mostly) when it first launched in 2009. Garrick took a stroll down nostalgia's cobblestone steps to see just how the MMO holds up in 2021. Here is our review in progress.

    I remember the queue being like that when the game first launched back in the day.

    Another example of could of been good but killed with a stupid decisions.

    Has a sub cost... no you cannot really play it f2p it is too restrictive. This is good, as long as there is no p2w... yea.....

    The battle pass is stupid expensive. Gives good items and you can pay to complete it... yay p2w.

    And the cashshop litteraly has a npcable/tradeable item that vendors for stupid amounts of money. So you sell to the daily npc money caps... then playershop them for less then they npc for so players buy them... boom 10+mill a day. Honestly the worst form of p2w I ever seen. No only gives you endless money.... it adds horrible amounts of money into the economy devaluing everyone elses work.

    30 minute que is nothing, Aion's original launch the que usually 3 hours long, and people would stay parked in one spot instead of logging out to avoid that.

    Another example of bringing a game back (or introduce to western market) just to squeeze some money from whales until it dries up and fades away.

    I came home from work and logged right in. Maybe this was the queue when the servers opened but just four hours later there was none and has been none since. And yea it's a sub game where you are penalized for playing for free. I really wish people would stop whining about having to pay to play a game. Even more than that I wish companies would stop even allowing it or rename it a demo.

    I completely lost interest when they said the max level would be more easily attainable. There is nothing to do in Aion at max level; the journey is the fun.

    They did not say how it was attainable, it is all about spending real money in the cash shop.
