the way they handle living world episodes is why i left years ago..i am not always around to claim them.and here again im not able to claim them again.it should just be content we can access at anytime..like everything else we paid for.

They don't handle much well imo. I left because of WvW being neglected for so long.

your complaint is really pointless considering they are giving all previous stories for free right now, just if you log in, but i dont think you bothered to even do that, before complaining about it . much like other posts where people go on rants about industry in general, or companies being so poor blahblahblah. a lot of these companies do a lot of work and effort into catching up players and addressing complaints

Did they ever give a new date for the steam release or was that walked back at some point? I think its kind of important to know since I think they said people who play via steam have to restart progress.

We’re investing in our infrastructure, engine, and graphics because we’re looking to the future. This is a long-term effort.

Ah yes, finally moving to DirectX 11, which funnily is also more than 11 years old now. Gotta upgrade from my 2060s then, I guess. BDO can go home now.

They can take all the time they need and make sure they can deliver a great Cantha experience. I'll patiently wait for it.

IMO that is a positive thing. He was in charge of the base game, and IMO the base game is the best part of GW2.

If you can't even login the game to claim the free LS, then why are you even bothering to complain about it? You act like it's an monumental task to just.. log in the game. Obviously your life has other priories.

Why did they leave out several previous high ups returning, the engine upgrade and WvW Alliances happening this year? And WvW becoming a focus of the game.

They left for New World MMO. Now they're back. I don't know what that means for New World to be honest :D I'm more scared about it now being a flop than whether or not Gw2 will get better. Both of them went to work to AGS.

Weirdly enough nobody mentions it. Am I the only one who's paranoid enough to consider it?

How much longer can you blame the pandemic, to me if you call it "real world challenges instead" then you have other issues.

Eh. I also view him as partly responsible for how dumbed down GW2 is from GW1.

    I don't want him back.

Compared to GW1, sure. Compared to other mmos, i'll take GW2 any day.

This is kind of a weird post as it leaves out several other bits of important information that was also revealed in that same update post MMORPG.com is siting from.

Although it is true the expansion is getting delayed to early 2022 (Which I support btw. Devs should always be given all the time they need to complete their vision)

It also leaves out the fact that two previously important devs for the game have come back,

WvW alliances is coming this year (which they say is going to be a large focus going forward),

a client upgrade from DX 9 to DX 11,

and that theres going to be a live stream on July 27th where they are going to finally show and talk about the End of Dragons expansion. Which will include a new trailer, feature reveals, and a look into an elite specialization beta event, and more.

And also Colin and Josh didn't work on New World, they were working on a PVP game called Crucible for Amazon. But that game got cancelled. So no doubt these two were in need of work so they decided to come back to GW2. Josh actually came back to gw2 5 months ago and Colin came back 7 months ago

Well, yeah. I'll agree on that. And most of my time is on vanilla maps.

I am glad Colin is back as well, he had a really solid vision for the game at inception and during vanilla, hopefully they can recapture some of that. Personally, I really liked living world because it was much more frequent than the big content drops they do now, you used to have a reason to look forward to every month or two.

As for the delay, Cantha has been the most requested region from GW1 since the launch of GW2, it seems to really be everyones favourite, so they need to take the time to get it right because there will be literally 10 years of anticipation for that moment to attempt to live up to.

I dunno. None of the races or aesthetics in GW2 were never very appealing to a lot of gamers--that's some of why it didn't do that well.
For many years it was one of the top MMOs. Even now, while it has declined compared to the past, it is a title that stands out and has a sizeable population. Many games would wish to "not do that well".
It was never even one of the "big 4" and now barely registers as anything but mediocre. BDO, WoW, FFXI, ESO all trump it by a good amount, and have for years. I mean... I wanted to like it, too, but it just wasn't that great.
What were the big 4 when GW2 released?

I decided to look and it released in 2012.  So we definitely have WOW and I assume Rift as more popular.  But there's no way that SWTOR or LOTRO were more popular during it's first year.

    EVE and Lineage 2?

I'd venture to guess it was a top 4 played MMO for a while.

Since when is BDO a top 4 MMO? lol

Any official sources on that, other than "straight up from your arse" ?

It hasn't been since more than half its lifespan-- more than half a decade kicked to the mid-tier of the MMO world.

Truth is, it just never was all that great. People wanted it to be... it just never was. As -soon- as a few other MMOs released (FFXIV ARR, BDO, ESO) that was it for GW2 ever being one of the "big" ones. It couldn't compete with them, faced several rounds of massive layoffs and cuts, and has limped along at "meh" status for the better part of a decade now.

C'est la vie and all that.
I agree that it's a mediocre ARPG.  But I wouldn't put BDO up as being better.  That game has terrible design.

BDO came out in 2016. GW2 came out in 2012.
And your point? It's 5...almost 6 years later. GW2 hasn't been one of the "big 4" in more than half a decade.
    Ummm..

While I have my issues with GW2, and a lot of what they have done I disagree with.
GW2 has held higher populations than BDO, and maintains a tight second against ESO.

In fact I highly doubt you will find a single source that says that BDO and ESO have outstripped GW2 by a large margin.

As for the Top 4 are, WOW, Runecape, PSO2, and FFXIV...

Just in case you were wondering.
