Do you love Star Wars?

All the movies were built upon passion and quality, with a deep sense of integrity.

We once had an MMORPG which reflected this. It was the original Star Wars Galaxies aka PRE-CU.

We had an exciting and challenging universe with a dynamic not seen in any other MMORPG to date.

It has been said by hundreds (thousands?) of intelligent players, what we had.

With 2 weeks (!) notice to our great community, it was all torn down and replaced with "NGE" -- a version of the game with hundreds of gameplay features DISABLED (yet still existant) in a rush for holiday sales.

We have seen new abominable graphical bugs, gameplay bugs, bugs of the caliber of an alpha game yet present in our live experience.

It apparently IS technically possible to create a classic server, this was stated at the summits.

Just as with EQ, there is a strong desire to have a classic server.

With talk of server consolidation, creating one classic server as a test case IS ESSENTIAL.

It is ESSENTIAL because we have lost THOUSANDS OF GREAT PLAYERS DUE TO NGE.

This is our oppurtunity to show our support of the great game and the great players we had.

So why did this forum become the place where posts that were deleted for being off topic flamebait come and be accepted? Surely this forum must equally have rules against trash like this?

Remember, just becuase you agree with a troll doesn't mean you have to emulate him by reposting his crap.

The SWG forums ban just about anything that is not pro NGE. Its their forums so they can do so. I am just grateful that there are places where we can discuss and gripe about what they are doing. I dont take what the OP said as a troll. I take it as a legitimate protest.

As a matter of fact, it has exactly the same weight, as those "Come play now" type of posts. It's just in the opposite direction.

It's not a valid point. It's incitement to anger - the definition of trolling. However, incitement to happiness is not trolling. See what the difference is? One feeds on and encourages negative emotions in an effort to make the original poster seem powerful. It's a destructive self esteem behavior that seeks to push people against each other.

I'm not arguing this guy's right so say what he did. I'm arguing that it didn't belong in the SWG community because it was against the rules, and that it is likewise against the rules here - and given that HE, himself, didn't post it, it belongs here even less.

what if someone's encouragement and hyping of the game results in someone subscribing .. being very unhappy .. then having problems cancelling because SOE doesnt give this said individual a refund ...

dont you think THAT possibility is a much more negative one than someone posting about a player's unhappyness due to the NGE?

afterall the LATTER warns the consumer .. the former BAITS the consumer ...

Is asking why the NGE was announced 1 day after the release of ToOW against forum rules? Because I read those rules and it seemed fine to ask the question, but they didn't reply in any form and banned me for asking a question in a calm civil manner.

I'd like to know your opinion as to why they did that, as you seem to have more knowledge on the SOE subject than myself.

Also any posts that are pro-rollback and/or pre-cu are deleted without question, on the basis that they are not pro-NGE. This is reality I'm afraid, it has probably happened to most of us that played SWG. Also in some people's opinion many of your posts could be classed as "incitment to anger", just because pro-NGE posts make you feel happy doesn't mean we all get a warm feeling inside does it?

That's not true. I see LOTS of anti-NGE posts, even today. I've even seen threads with hundreds of responses a page long each. However, if you go into some random thread and write "ROLLBACK!!!" a hundred times, that's trolling. Most of the posts that are deleted are spam, posted in the wrong section, vulgar, or off-topic - maybe because most of the posts made by anti-NGE people tend to be spam, vulgar, and off-topic. You wouldn't know anything about that, right?

Also in some people's opinion many of your posts could be classed as "incitment to anger", just because pro-NGE posts make you feel happy doesn't mean we all get a warm feeling inside does it?
My posts are rarely posted for the purpose of incitement. You guys may not agree with me, but I am not posting just to make everyone upset. Everyone here is ALREADY upset. I'm just sharing my opinions which happen to be in line with the thing that made them upset. When I start throwing insults and calling people names, or posting off topic spam, then please feel free to put me in my place. But posting something that people DISAGREE with is not inciting them to anger unless they have very poor self esteem and people who are different than them make them feel inferior.

Also I'd argue that $OE encourages negative emotions, as does the NGE far more than they encourage positive emotions. Three hundred thousand ex-subscribers can't be wrong!
SWG didn't even have that many subscribers to begin with. Honestly, sometimes I wonder where you guys get these numbers... Seriously, it's like a fish story. Every time someone quotes the number of lost subscribers (which have NEVER been announced), it gets larger and larger. In your next post, you'll be telling me how SWG lost over a billion million subscribers! Worst part is, I think you are believing your own bullshit. Does it make you feel more manly when the numbers are higher or something?

Squidi,

The same statement above could be used to exmplify the attitudes of those that post threads encouraging the playablity and fun factor of the NGE. The original poster could have easily wanted to incite anger in his thread audience and bring specific attention to himself. The ball rolls both ways. The whole idea of this section of the MMORPG.com Forum is to discuss Star Wars Galaxies. It isn't specifically indicated that we discuss any of the three editions of this game. If this principle is true, we need to avoid these mini-topics about "trolling." If the OP made this thread he really wanted to know the meaning behind this message. I'm sure he is just looking for an answer instead of turning this into a flame war or "negative" arguement.

Because most of the people that post have canceled due to the NGE, and totaly hate it? If you browse the topics you will realise that, this is not the oficial forum, this is the place where we stil have some freedom of speach, and where we exchange ideas about what could possibly be done to get the game we PAYED back? Or do you think we would have bought Star Wars Bugged Empire Online instead or the previous versions? This game is no longer worth mentioning on the press, I think that sais a lot about it's current quality. However, we do miss the product we payed for, and that's usualy what you read about on this unoficial forums. If you want the inquisition version, please consult the oficial forums for the non deleted positive feedback. Here is where the player base gathers after canceling their accounts.

You need to go back to the Official SWG Forums where any opposing views are immediately deleted. You obviously live in a one way world. It's either your way or the highway. In your world if someone says something you don't like you tell them to shut up, call them names, or at least tell them they are starting trouble .... all because YOU disagree with them.

It seems odd to me that when I do respond to you in a calm and civil manner, you accuse me of being a vulgar, intolerant, liar. Rather than debate any issue.

I'm trying to be amusing and satirising $OE, I apologise if any of my humour incites you to anger but nothing is meant personally toward you. If I do speak ill of anyone they're usually an $OE employee. I apologise for giving an opinion that you find offensive, also for any information that may be innacurate.

Actually early on the developers loved announcing the numbers of subscribers. I and most vets remember it. They announced the second day they hit 150k subscribers. Then a week later they announced they hit 350k subscribers. Sometime later, a few months, they said they hit 450k subnscribers... Alot of, back then, felt the 450k was a lie since we could already begin seeing the numbers dwindling. Holos had just started dropping and alot of players saw this as bad so left.

But once the numbers began to drop, where it was definately noticeable, they dummied up and wouldnt tell us the numbers no matter how much we begged for them. Then they made the mistake of letting out a astromech stat that showed the numbers. Wow that was pulled quick. It had dropped to 300k.

Then before ToOW was released they changed it from subscribers to franchizes. ie copies of the games. Saying they hit 1 million franchizes. But not saying how many of each game, be it the Original, JTL, RotW, or the whole pack.

You might want to do some research next time before you make a statement like that again.

Let me see. A couple of things:

1) If you look at the heading within the thread he is posting the "Banned thread" asking if anybody has heard of the 1st June thing.

2) The same rules do not apply here because Starlin.. I mean Smeadly is not watching.

3) If you don't like the posts on this forum stick to the official one where the rules obviously meet your needs.

4) I actually found the post entertaining. Most people are capable of forming their own opinions and a post like this will not sway them. Those that pour scorn on this post are as ignorant as those that blindly follow it.

Would anyone really even care if they came out with pre-CU servers? I miss the old SWG a lot, but I refuse to give any more $$ to SOE.

The only way I'll ever play a star wars MMO again is if one is released by a different company.
