In case you missed it, the folks behind upcoming MMORPG, Swords of Legends Online, held an AMA on Reddit and discussed various details regarding monetization, loot boxes, and more.

Well if no P2W the only thing that makes a great game these days then we have issues, because the plot for this game was thin and confusing, quests were boring, dialog was was unfinished and bounced between English VO and Chinese which grew tiresome, combat was convoluted and boring. NPC AI was wonky, the world was a mix between medium rez textures and low rez, and didn't really feel lived in. The only thing it might have going for it is the housing system; most likely it will turn into an ERPfest type game.
And yes, it is sad that we pay so much attention to monetization and use that as one of the main factors when judging upcoming games but we didn't get to this place where we do that willingly - the excesses by publishers with obnoxious cash shop tricks (gear improvement chance items being one of the most common Eastern MMO ones) brought us here.
I won't be playing this right away but I'm going to check out the post release impressions and keep an eye on it.

The perception is entirely wrong, because this is targeting the FOMO (fear of missing out) crowd, who are dead set on completing 1200% of the game's content and not leaving any stone unturned. This type of insatiable greed is what's blinding every fanboy of this generic and mediocre game - "Tee hee, it's not gonna be P2W, is that makes it super awesome." ... No, it doesn't.
That's the marketing pitch of the publisher Gamigo to trick as many gullible and desperate people as possible who are willing to throw money at anything that charms them with fancy words of promise. I've been on that ride before, it doesn't lead where it promises and I'm not getting on it ever again. I will just be patiently watch on the side as the game fails for its outrageous price for such a mediocre and low quality content, which leads to the player base to become too small to sustain an MMORPG, they start doing discounts, sales, promotions, then the P2W starts creeping in, F2P Steam weekends, eventually Free to keep forever, then server merges, then shut down. And at the end they will pretend like they have no idea what went wrong and the players will lament it and when the next scam emerges the same fanboys will be the first to buy into it.
So this player is playing with one finger one button, how intuitive. Then the Boss whatever it is suppose to be is taking huge numbers like 2/5/10k damage likely over a thousand times and still not going down.So i guess this teams idea of intuitive Boss creation is give it a few hundred million hit points lol.
Oh and there are NO ADDS anywhere to be found ,,it is like an instance circle with some stationary boss that does not move.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
Hey I didn't say what your post has me saying after you butchered your quote editing lol.

If you don't like the game that's fine. Not everyone has to like every game--I won't play FFXIV, ESO or WoW anymore, for example, but that doesn't mean they're "bad" games. However, it makes you guys look quite foolish spreading misinformation about SOLO like dungeons/raids have no mechanics or classes can be played well with 1 button spam. Ridiculous. Not sure if you have an agenda or just love shitting on "Asian" games.
To address some of the comments: the publisher is Gameforge, not Gamigo, and the game has been out for 3 years in China as GuJian Online. In China and Taiwan players actually pay for game time to play plus cosmetics in a cash shop. That is how they have funded development and new content for 3 years without boosts/p2w items.
Gameforge isn't bragging about it being free of p2w to steal your $40. People just keep asking about p2w because they expect it from every game these days. However, it is unlikely that they will suddenly implement p2w items for Gameforge after all this time. Comparing this game to Astellia and acting like it's a cash grab is quite a joke. Astellia has never been popular anywhere. SOLO is popular and active in China and Taiwan. Even if Gameforge never picked up the publishing rights it would continue to be a successful game in China. Obviously it's not a "WoW killer," but it's not trying to be.
They already have like 3 years worth of content ready to be localized plus a UE4 update coming. I am not worried about this game dying with a lack of content or becoming f2p p2w trash. I don't have a crystal ball, and I can't tell the future, but for now I'm looking forward to this as a new game to play.
Haha. Sorry
Edit your post again, because you messed it up again - now it makes it look I said something I didn't.

All of those issues were because of beta. Oh yes, ERP so horrible! How dare consenting people enjoy the game in peculiar kinky way. *eyeroll* And damn there's some jaded saltiness in these comments. I bet you folks are a hoot at parties.
History isn't on your side. Monetization promises made early on frequently don't stand the test of time. Accordingly, potential players are justifiably concerned this will be yet another repetition.
We'll see, but this one looks promising in that respect.

Still, is a potential future concern that may happen something that should paralyze one today? With that standard one can't do anything for fear of what might be. Sometimes one feels the chances are good enough to take.
I can understand some feeling this to be one of those times.
Games look good, but I just can not get any enthusiasm up for most of them anymore.
Hope it is something that turns out well for those that like these faster games:)
