ArtCraft Entertainment's Crowfall launched back on July 6th, bringing the PvP-centric, throne war MMO to center stage. But how does it stack up thus far with about a week's worth of gameplay under our belts? Matt takes you through in his review-in-progress.

I agree. Really good community experience especially for a PvP game!

It is a solid 2/10 in it's current state.

The crafting is an interesting example of this. As your screen shot of intermediate crafting shows, it seems really intuiative at first while still being quite deep. However, the real crafting is an order of magnitude more complex, and the volumes of materials and cross-crafted items needed to make anything makes it almost impossible to craft unless you are being fed resources from a guild.
I have been finding the youtube videos by dilbo daggins really helpful in explaining how everything fits together.
Same for me. Since the gameplay/fight system is terrible, I don't how you can enjoy the game atm.
When a game focuses on a few small aspects, those things need to be a little more complex or you will get bored fast.
I'm kind of a fan of tab targeting, but I don't mind if combat is a little more action oriented like this, especially if it's done well. I think Crowfall did combat targeting well though I get that it isn't for everyone. Then again, I thought Wildstar did it a decent job at an action style combat and that game died...lol.
My only gripe is the lack of a persistent world. They need to expand what can be done in your eternal kingdom because it doesn't feel like I have much of an impact on the world.

I had the same experience in the beta, then I found Templar and mob grinding became a breeze. You can start straight at level 25 now anyway and sidestep the whole tutorial.
Fortunately I can save all those sacrifice items I grind on Vindi and quickly level my alt classes.

Mess with the best, Die like the rest
Nice to see the community is cool... as we all know some communities in PvP games are horrible (Darkfall was a lot of trash talk and had almost zero moderation).
What stops me from playing Crowfall at the moment is the fact I am a fan of immersion, and play a lot of both cRPG and first-person teamwork PvP games (Squad, Post Scriptum). I have a hard time being attracted by the cartoony side and lack of coherent world (society, history). Shadowbane and Darkfall each had a big wide world to explore and Darkfall was oddly immersive for a sandbox that had zero quest.
I am on the fence. Listening to guilds I know and watching to see how things go.
