I like these types of MMO's. I also like wow but my time with wow is far done. I can't make up my mind really on which one to play I dont have a TON of time to invest but massive progression isn't really a big deal to me.
Any opinions to help me sway one way or the other?
Oh yeah, cost doesn't really matter.
Thanks in advance.

I played Lineage 2 for about an hour and a bit,got annoyed. Terrible, terrible, terrible GUI and system imo.
I played Silkroad for 20 minutes, realised there's a half-decent game under it,it's just hidden by the constant lag, apparent thief exploiters, botters and constant lag. If Silkroad would remove the lag they'd have a half-decent game on their hands. As it is,I'm looking forward to testing their PvP system as I continue to play; they have improved since I started testing the initial open beta. (trader, thief, merchant)
I'd pick Silkroad over Lineage 2. But both games ain't that good, although SRO is the pick of both.
Just make sure you go on a private server and head straight for the PvP. For all I know L2's PvP sounded decent with the castle wars and stuff. Too bad I was immediately put off by its GUI,system and how generally uncontrollable I found it. So skip the PvE,head straight for the PvP.
I stand that SRO is better though.
downloaded and played silk road last night for a bit. got to level 5. total grindfest. graphics are pretty bad, lots of lag, especially with lots of people on the screen.
i love chinese setting and i wish someone would make a good game with it. i love kung fu movies and especially the older martial arts movies. but i need a game that isn't a grindfest and needs substance and better graphics.
both games suck though.
~Greatness~

I don't know why Lineage 2 gets bad press. I'm playing right now and find it to be alot of fun.
Sure, there is a repetive nature to the game. But I have yet to play an MMO that doesn't have that issue.
Lineage II has some good aspects of several games. I like the skill system. The action starts right away. You can log on, kill some things, and log off.
Played EQ1, EQ2, Eve and WOW. Lineage 2 reminds me of a cross between EQ1 and WOW with a much more sophisticated PvP system. The game is very straightforward. Perhaps that is what people mean when they talk about lack of "depth". That's not an issue for me. You want depth, play Eve. That'll give you depth.
This game is hack and slash. You can label it to be a grind because there is so much hack and slash. Who cares? I like it.
You start your character and get going. You log on and keep going. You just keep going, and going, and going.......
If you only played Lineage 2 for about an hour then you can't really consider yourself an authority on it.
I played a character to lvl 37 at from open beta into Launch. I thought Lineage 2 was a great game.
I never played L2. I would if it was free. I play silk road though. It's pretty nice for being free. It's free how can you complain?
Make a difference!
Well despite my previous reservations i have just joined Lineage 2..will take a while to become familiar with all aspects of the game , but so far i don't regret it.
Not entierey sure which server i should join for a " newbie"..so atm just learning game mechanics and general controls.

I pick Linage II
I agree. I was in the L2 beta. It was a generally fun game. Once it hit retail, the damn Asian farmers destroyed it, IMO.
Cartman has a big fat ass!
