MMORPG.com doesn't trust us to comment on their Activision Blizzard posts

MightyUncleanMightyUnclean Member EpicPosts: 3,531
MMORPG.com has turned off commenting on their articles concerning the Activision Blizzard charges.  It's nice to know that I've been coming here and commenting since 2004, and been part of the reason they earn ad revenue, but my opinion isn't welcome on this issue.  And neither is yours.

To be totally fair, it's not exactly like there is any sort of discourse going on in the places people do post.  I don't have the bandwidth to have a hard opinion on any of this, but I like to watch other people engage in internet blood sport from time to time.

Not really much to see anywhere that adds any new information or insight.  If you enjoy seeing endless variations of the same finger wagging, though, you are in luck!

Considering what people have been posting in the unofficial posts, I'm not surprised.

It's not really censorship though they just don't want 50 threads they will have to babysit on so locked them down except for the one where you can comment.

If everyone could keep their comments civil then we might be able to have nice things. But if you've been here since 2004, you should know by now that we can't have nice things here.

Someone always has to ruin it. The fact that this thread is even allowed to exist is kind of a testament to the reason people still come here. As long as it stays civil you still get to be heard which is more than I can say for the other million sites out there that don't care what any of us think.

Amazing.  Some people are so used to being under the yoke, they actually enjoy it.

You're pretty much proving the point right here and with this thread. When people show they can't be trusted then it's revoked. You sound like you feel entitled to it, but trust and respect are something earned.
No, you're just one of the ones who wants ideas you don't agree with stifled.  You don't like what I'm saying, so you'd rather see me not be able to say it.  And yes, I feel every human should feel entitled to express themselves freely, unless what they're doing is illegal or overtly dangerous.

Are you sure? I'm looking at the front page top article and there are plenty of comments.

There isn't anything here guaranteeing that you can post on every article. Why are you trying to act like you have been victimized?

It's not their fault that you have different expectations.

Instead of starting a thread like this and pretending that the staff at MMORPG are the Gestapo, maybe just sending them a message asking why they chose to not allow comments on those articles.

You couldn't even create this thread without some bad passive aggressive, and entitled attitude, so why would they want to open up that discussion with you now?
You're right, I'm the bad guy for complaining about censorship.  People who don't want to be censored are entitled.  Fuck it, you're right.  Just turn off commenting on everything, then there won't be anything to worry about.

Their house, their rules, you are more than welcome to comment freely in your home too.

Not like you are a paying customer, probably even using an ad blocker like most of us.

This is one of the more open places to post that I know of that isn't 4 chan.

You need a bot to randomly generate the same sentiment worded slightly differently under the article.  How else can we validate our opinions as the the right one every time?

    In the words of Churchill.

"Tact my dear fellow, is being able to tell someone to go to hell in such a way they will look forward to the trip"

I lack tact, it seems most gamers do. But if we didn't.. we might be able to tell each other to go to hell more often. ;)

this would have for years been considered poor journalism but as i have stated many times, the gaming world is all about making money and apparently integrity has no part of it.

I believe there is even a NEW angle being played by journalists, websites but i will not spell it out it is up to the individual to pay attention and read between the lines.

It is actually very lame when you put up something for discussion but don't allow any discussion ,it really PROVES there is a lot of kiss assing in this industry.

I mean it could be as simple as the person who put this up there was given orders from someone else to not allow any comments.

Either way you slice it this site has done this several times and is telling you that this site should not be looked at as having INTEGRITY.Obviously someone is AFRAID but afraid of What, some typed words over the internet, afraid Blizzard might take some heat,WHY would this site care if Blizzard takes heat...think about it...lmao seriously.

I should point out one more thing because i am always preaching >>THINK for a bit if we can instead of just pointing fingers.

It could be as simple as we already have one thread open for discussion on this topic so why have two separate threads doing the exact same thing. However, this site should have then embedded the Blizzard spokeman's statement into the original thread instead of making another thread,it comes off as two fold, click bait and pointless.

I mean this site has for years removed threads from users if basically on the same subject but seems that priority changes when it's not a user.

when they've already shown they can't be trusted in recent days.  This site isn't the place for the discussions those jerks want to take it.

    For damn good reason.

The comments on this site prove every day that if a topic gives posters here even the tiniest opportunity to make off topic and off the wall radical political comments about it, they will.

Workplace sexual inequality and abuse is not a topic that can be discussed intelligently or even rationally here as many comments on the threads that hadn't been locked prove.
