Yesterday it was announced that the buy-to-play version of Astellia was being shut down on October 29th, less than two years since it first launched here in the West. Now, a day later, it's been made known that the free-to-play variant, Astellia Royal, will be following suit, shutting down this October as well.

I am so good, I backstabbed your face!
Yeah, I'm so tired of open world PVP.
Oh? Where did you hear this from?
It could have been a good game if they hadn’t stuck to their ideas so much and listened to the opinions of the players as well.
Christ, it sounds like something Alex Jones would sell.
Fleecing pve players is not a way to make millions. It will be the death of this game for sure since they just alienated a portion of their playerbase by charging more for their chosen playstyle. Whoever thought of that is stupid. If they change it I imagine it will come too little too late.
Plus, if PvP is so undesirable that you think people would actually pay you not to do it, that's an indication that you shouldn't be doing a PvP game.
Amazon read the warning signs early and added flagged pvp which was a good idea. Sure some of the people who enjoy ganking lowbies for fun threw a fit, but in the end It didn't stop normal people from large scale open world pvp. This is the way pvp in MMO games should be done. No need to separate the players, just make it an option in the open world. I hope more MMOs follow suit because it works best.
Of course a sunset clause is a policy that ceases on a specific date and the term sunsetting usually refers to that process, but that's PR speak for you.
I played SOLO for a couple hours. It's not "bad" but it definitely didn't grip me like New World did. I ended up refunding it. The playerbase was very small. I didn't want to waste my time on something that will likely shut down in a year.
