Yesterday it was announced that the buy-to-play version of Astellia was being shut down on October 29th, less than two years since it first launched here in the West. Now, a day later, it's been made known that the free-to-play variant, Astellia Royal, will be following suit, shutting down this October as well.

I knew Astellia was gonna be gone the moment royal released instead of that "big update". When things like these happen it makes me not even want to get involved in mmos anymore. So much talent went into this game but all of it is ruined by the people managing it. I think I'll just play single player games for a while. At least I can't one day have the rug pulled out from me and lose everything with those games.

I am one of those NW people. Quit all of my MMORPG's, including WOW classic and am eagerly waiting for NW's release.

It would be interesting to see what happened with the number of active players between NW's beta release and now, across all MMORPG's.

Damn, Blessed Unleashed is just shooting themselves in the foot again! At level 30 you have to buy 1hr potions to stop people from being able to kill you and you cant opt out. Bye bye again BU!

Yeah, I'm so tired of open world PVP.

Oh? Where did you hear this from?

From the start, the whole game should have been launched in f2p format. I had login problems, for example. One day you let in the next day you don't. I didn’t even make progress, so I asked for the money back as well. I seem to have done well ...
It could have been a good game if they hadn’t stuck to their ideas so much and listened to the opinions of the players as well.

How do "don't stab me please" potions even logically work? Fucking lol.

I cannot be reading this correctly.
You have to pay real money for a potion to opt out of PvP for 1 hr?
I looked it up. I was just too curious. It isn't a potion. It's a scroll called Declaration of Peace. For the low, low price of $2.00/hr, you can not be mugged by basement sociopaths!

Christ, it sounds like something Alex Jones would sell.

Fleecing pve players is not a way to make millions. It will be the death of this game for sure since they just alienated a portion of their playerbase by charging more for their chosen playstyle. Whoever thought of that is stupid. If they change it I imagine it will come too little too late.

I agree. It's genuinely the dumbest business model I've ever heard. It isn't just alienating a portion of the playerbase. It's giving the middle finger to MOST of the playerbase.

Plus, if PvP is so undesirable that you think people would actually pay you not to do it, that's an indication that you shouldn't be doing a PvP game.

Amazon read the warning signs early and added flagged pvp which was a good idea. Sure some of the people who enjoy ganking lowbies for fun threw a fit, but in the end It didn't stop normal people from large scale open world pvp. This is the way pvp in MMO games should be done. No need to separate the players, just make it an option in the open world. I hope more MMOs follow suit because it works best.

Apparently you don't close down anymore or get cancelled, you go of into the sunset, ain't that lovely. :)

Of course a sunset clause is a policy that ceases on a specific date and the term sunsetting usually refers to that process, but that's PR speak for you.

The devs made promises they didn't keep. They literally lied to everyone then wanted us to continue to keep playing and supporting them? The game deserved better than what that whole team and publisher delivered. Makes me physically angry -.-

I legit lol'd when they said they'd remove gender locking, but started by only allowing female characters to be formerly male only classes. It showed where the priorities were. Lure in western players with lip service, make money off of people dressing their waifus, and never actually unlock all the classes for male toons.

I played SOLO for a couple hours. It's not "bad" but it definitely didn't grip me like New World did. I ended up refunding it. The playerbase was very small. I didn't want to waste my time on something that will likely shut down in a year.
