Fishing is not intricate - is easy af (compared to, let's say, Stardew Valley's or Sea of Thieves):

1)You cast the line (doesn't matter how strongly far away)
    2) You wait for the green prompt
    3) you HOLD DOWN LMB (not click, hold!) until the prompt goes to (!) - you stop holding
    4) repeat from 2)

    How is this intricate????

What are you doing with your time to play 40 hours during the 50% XP buff and only level 16, is that like 30 hours of fishing?

I didn't play much during the buff but I have a level 19, 10 and 7 at 15 hours played.

Also a better comparison for this game is Tera with a jankier BnS combat system. This is nothing like BDO.

My bad. I went off the Steam played counter since no /played command in game. Apparently it takes in account time spent sitting on the character select screen.

I used BDO as a frame of reference for comparison. How can you say combat isn’t a similar concept? This BDO, Tera are all non-tab targeted action combat? Nevertheless I’m glad you gave the game a try ?

So you didn't actually play for 40 hours, you don't actually know how long you played. So no, your experience is no indication of the grind the game may have.

Bless definitely has a tab target style system, its closer to blade and soul than Tera and not even remotely close to BDO.

BDO has no real lock on system and highly relies on fighting game style combos/animation canceling to be proficient.

Tera has free targeting with some lock on abilities and a soso combo system, its not all that complex and fairly easy to follow.

Blade and Soul is a tab target game that auto locks on giving the illusion of a more action based system, honestly it feels fairly good. Also has/had a fairly simple combo system.

Bless has an insanely simple combo system if you can even call it that. The free aim exists but why would you gimp yourself, the hitboxes are wonky and the reticle feels off. Just tab to the mob and hit it no matter how hard it tries to dodge instead.

As ranged class to certain degree on some skills. But my Zerker says no. There is no tab target lol

There is no way to use tab target for melee classes its 100% action based and you will be missing A LOT.

Are the 1hr "no PVP" potions still a thing? And are they more or less required if you want to avoid PVP in order to progress?

Yep and its still a huge point of contention for many people.

I tried it and can't even understand why anyone can say this game is worth much. The UI and controls are terrible and the story and fighting are so bland I got sick of it pretty fast

You don't have much at the start so of course it's going to be bland. It's a mmorpg, you always start with hardly anything.

You can remap quite a bit so you should be able to make controlling your character the way you want it. I don't like that it's a re-imagining of what seems a console version with some of the things you have to do but I got used to it.

Also, the UI is very sparse which is quite good in my opinion as it doesn't get in the way of what's going on.

In any case I love the Boss battles as they give me that "people are doing things together and doing things together for a while" feel.

It's a huge step up from its predecessor though I don't know if it will have lasting power. I'm having more fun with it than Sword of Legend at the moment.

You can lock on characters using the middle mouse wheel  but that's sort of like a Dark Souls lock on which I'm fine with.

Can you talk about the actual differences between this "version" and the very first version?

Our own Steven Weber covered this before:

    https://www.mmorpg.com/editorials/bless-online-vs-bless-unleashed-its-a-bless-off-2000117474

and to be honest I don't think I played it that long 4 years ago that "Bless Online" left a big memorable, lasting impression so maybe that says something in itself?

Thanks for that. Though, looking over that article, it seems that it's the same "world" just updated with updated game mechanics as there is no mention of any complete rehaul of the world or the cities. Am I correct in assuming that?

It's funny you came to this conclusion without playing the game, if you even say that in their forum or steam community page the mods would screech at you the following : THIS IS NOT THE SAME BLESS AT ALL JUST HAS THE SAME MAME HURRDURR.

I have bless unleashed for free since I bought the original bless online, went in with minimal expectations, logged in new char, 2 minutes into the tutorial. Game crashes. I uninstalled. Not to mention the horrible optimization and performance, my Rx 580 was running stable 80c while playing. Pretty bad for such mediocre graphics fidelity in UE4
    1. Its not the same game. There is a much bigger difference between Bless Online and Bless Unleashed then between FFXIV and FFXIV:ARR for instance, and no one confuses those two or calls them 'the same game.'

    2. Its one of the prettiest MMORPGs out there, and I've played them all. Outside BDO I have a hard time coming up with one that looks better tbh.

    3. 2 minutes of game play doesn't give you the faintest clue about the game, at all.

    4. Everyone gets the new Bless for free, its a F2P game.

    /Cheers,
    Lahnmir
Its hard to understand all the hate this game is getting, all the gameplay videos I have seen look awesome.

It’s not required and you can play and quest in maps like Navarra or Gnoll, and other maps without worry of getting pk, I’ve killed bosses and seen red named players running around not pking because those maps are safe zones. The places that aren’t safe zones then there you have Campfires and 15 meters around them are safe zones.

In what way is the pvp balanced? On first sight it would appear to be extremely unbalanced given the large gaps in power based on character level and gear.

You were treading into waters that "was?" Maybe you should tread into a remedial English class at the local community college. Just sayin'.

That's a good clarification. I really just meant to answer his question as to them still existing.

I think I'll try it as a diversion for the weekend. Peon's review shows the world and the world bosses and it seems they can be a bit tough.

    Free is free!

There is a water boss and its just bodies hitting the floor. It's both great and irritating heh.
