What are your favorite gaming sub reddit?

I know, it's like sleeping with the enemy, but I wondered what reddit gaming sub's people found useful or entertaining.

In my case the r/fo76 and r/elderscrollsonline subs have provided useful info though I don't post there very often as it's a sea of thousands.

Outside of gaming, r/nextfuckinglevel has some great videos and gifs which are the next level, none of which involves sex despite it's rather unfortunate name.

Personally the only modern MMORPG trend that annoys me is the idea that MMOs need to be designed in a way to attract people who don't actually like MMOs. Which to me makes about as much sense as someone trying to figure out a way to get vegetarians to eat at their steakhouse.

It depends on what I'm currently playing. I don't use reddit much for general gaming subs but I do for specific games I play especially if the game's official forums are lacking or non existent.

In the past few weeks I've use the Solasta, Last Epoch, Diablo 3, New World and a few others.

I do post in them usually to help out someone asking questions who knows even less than me.

The only sub I have been going to consistently for years has nothing to do with games. It's the one for my hockey team, r/canucks.

You can definitely do the same on Reddit, but the moderation can be heavy handed and inconsistent at times.

Oh wait, same as here, nevermind.

I stick around the subs for my favorite franchises.

    r/dynastywarriors

    r/fireemblem

    r/Guildwars2

I also keep up with r/gaming and r/GamingLeaksAndRumors. Just because I like to stay tuned in and informed on the speculation and potential goings-on.

I had to create a reddit account when MOP removed the option to login via steam.

but apart from that, I generally avoid reddit. Only time i end up there is when im googling for game info, reddit posts often come up in the results.

ESO has a great subreddit and FF14 is great too. r/wow on the other hand is awful and heavily moderated to remove any negative discussions.

I don't see how Reddit is any worse than here. At least there, you can filter to communities for your favorite games and not have to deal with haters all the time.
Because even within communities of your favorite subject the upvote/downvote system segregates and creates a safe bubble of ignorance and alienation (an echo chamber). Of course, that's not the case in small subreddits.

If you go back in time a bit here you'll see many, including myself, expressed concern about the addition of reactions such LOL and WTF in here.

And there is the issue of moderation - which is there as "HR" for the product/company and not to properly moderate the place (also the white knights/fanboys). So when something comes up that goes against their agenda the post deletion + downvote-a-thon starts to ensure they can drool over the things without interruption.

It's not a place for discussion. It's a place to geek about your favorite topic. I don't see the point in self validation.

You say 'hater' and proves my point.

    Edit to add:

Just as an example the entire Bloodlines 2 fiasco. Where you were either drooling over it or kicked from discord/deleted on subreddits. Where is the game now? Right? People are enjoying V5 instead of going back to V20, right? Everything is amazing, right?
Again, we have a reaction system here too.

It's okay to want to talk with likeminded communities.

I shouldn't have to open every thread on Guild Wars 2 only to find that the first handful of posts are from haters who haven't played in years - or ever. That's trash, and it's reflective of how bad this forum's community is.

Reddit also has better moderation. This forum can't even go a day without low-post bots spouting racist rhetoric.

The reaction system here is not a down points versus up points that makes comments go away and you know that.

And you also know that it is used to promote echo chambers.

Racism and toxic speech is rampant in subreddits and other places with same system due the simple fact it's population itself is racist/toxic so they won't regulate themselves out of the equation, that's the job for the moderation - so the downvote/upvote system has no part in it at all.

"he first handful of posts are from haters who haven't played in years"

    See my point? Echo chamber.

Sure the game is doing wonders and Anet didnt have to axe a project and let people go.
Because the game is doing wonders... right?
You can still view hidden comments.

Also, a hate echo chamber is no different and no better than a positive one. It's often worse.

And yes, this forum is an echo chamber. It's an echo chamber where SWG is the greatest game ever made, old MMOs were the best MMOs, the genre is dead, etc.

Also, an MMO that is still alive after 9 years is doing okay. Every game has its failures, but our genre is riddled with inferior games that die within a few years.

When a comment is hidden (not deleted), you can click it to view the comment chain. This is when comments are hidden due to downvotes, which is what they were complaining about.

A deleted comment is distinct. That's when a user gets rid of their own comment, or if that comment is moderated due to breaking the code of conduct. The only difference between that and here is that reddit users can choose to delete their own comments (and it's not like you can't edit your comment into nothing to achieve basically the same effect here).

Well we have had high posting posters banned, we don't know why individuals were banned but that's not the issue, I'll take it on faith the reasons were right.

What I am not seeing is their replacements, if we don't get them where will the forums end up? We have had interesting new comers, who post both well and frequently, I think about two this year? That's the issue in my eyes, where are the replacements?

Bill made it clear in a recently closed (Blizzard?) thread tolerance for posters who have tread the line with regards to disparaging other groups of people particularly with regards to social mores was at an end and would result in firm and swift action.
