For me it wasn't just one but a couple. Black Burrow and Befallen in EQ. Befallen was my first as I started a Freeport Paladin first and go there. It was creepy and confusing. EQ1 was my first ever computer game. I gave up on the Paladin shortly after and rolled a Barb Shaman. Then Blackburrow came and I spent way more time there than Befallen. And yeah the trains were legendary there. That feeling continued when I got to Unrest which was harder and creepier than Befallen. And finally ended up in Kedge Keep. I loved that dungeon in part because me and my buddy were the only ones ever in it. That being said my favorite dungeon ever...Darkness Falls.
I started MMOs with Asheron's Call and it really didn't have dungeons other than some public indoor spaces that would be hard to call dungeons.
My first was in DAoC and their large public dungeons but Darkness Falls which came a bit after release was the first that really impressed me. It's still the gold standard for public dungeons to this day IMO.

Not a dungeon, but in City of Heroes moving from one rooftop to another in early missions to avoid enemies to strong for me fight on the ground. This was back when you couldn't get a travel power until level 14.
It was very immersive, as I felt very much like a street level hero, young and inexperienced, and still quite vulnerable to common street thugs.
EQ, the first one I remember is Unrest, biggest trains I've ever seen! Can't count how many times I saw a bard run past me then seconds later the whole damn basement plus a couple hags, the reanimated hand and that nasty dwarf ghost trampled the crap out my poor level 13 Druid heh.
That was a great dungeon, but the first one I went into was Tomb of Mithra (First dungeon in Albion, DAoC) , and I thought that was awesome. Never seen a dungeon before that

I loved Black Borrow but i absolutely loved Crystal Caverns in the Eastern Wastes EQ1. Just getting there was fun and having to run in then hope that a roamer orc wasn't waiting on the other side lol.
As a beastlord i had the levitation spell so i used to levi down to the bottom and work from there. It had a dwarf town and a few named in the dungeon plus the music was fantastic, ill never forget the place i spent hours upon hours in the place levelling up.
And still how dungeons should be Open World , that adds soo much immersion
Yeah i totally agree, you can't beat open dungeons, Vanguard had some fantastic open dungeons that would span many levels and take days to do. It also had the best open air dungeons ive played in as well.
I loved River Valley, Rahz Inkur, Sands of Sorrow, Coterie Infineum, Skawlra Rock, Ruins of Trengal Keep the list goes on.
