Final Fantasy 14's producer Naoki Yoshida took to the FFXIV website last night to address the ongoing concerns of the influx of players to the MMO, specifically just how the servers are holding up among the rush to Eorzea. The post details login caps for European data centers, as well as what the team at Square Enix are doing to alleviate congestion.

I've already noticed a shorter queue time today but the ultimate test will be sunday evening prime time where I usually have a 1200 player queue

I do hope they fix the congestion issues soon. I had 3 of my friends try the trial of the game but my entire world group was locked for character creation, they had to literally keep logging in for 3 hours until the server opened up for creation and even then it had to be spammed or it went away. It was really lame, especially for a game that has been out this long.

Not hating at all, but I seriously don't understand why this MMO is so appealing on this level to so many people. I genuinely love MMOs and have tried at least 3 different times to get into this game but just can't for some reason. I don't see what makes it so popular. I'm not a fan of the FF ethos, so I'm assuming that's why, but surely not everyone playing are playing solely for the story. Not to mention, there are many MMOs I've played and enjoyed where I didn't care one bit about the lore (most of them actually). Does the rest of the game just get really good out of nowhere down the line or something?

You should probably try a normal or even savage raid. That will give you a clear impression if you like the game or not.

I am so happy this game is doing so well. I love it to bits.

I think someone coming late to WoW might say the same thing? I still have it on my list as the one great MMO I have not played, it is friends who tell me I am missing out. But we can't expect every MMO to cater to every taste though clearly the studio would love that to be so.

I agree, sometimes it just doesn't 'click' and that's fine.
Of all modern MMORPGs FFXIV is by far my favourite one yet still it is also the only one I play without a single one of my irl friends because most of them already got frustrated at the account creation process and I can't even blame them

I think the experience of gaming friends figures much in our appraisal of games maybe too much? I certainly would not pay as much attention to FF if it was not for what they say, it does not have enough PvP for me and the graphics are rather cartoony. But I have put up with this before in the likes of WoW and still had a great time.

These days I always make sure I am going into a solid guild, I tried BDO in a half decent guild and although I enjoyed my time there that did contribute to me leaving after only four or five months. These days a good MMO is few and far between, I will be playing your near name sake Valheim when it properly launches in fact that also stands out from the crowd.
