So we're almost a year into early access? Is there a release date even? Can't wait to play it, don't get me wrong.
I would be interesting if a gaming site looked into how long on average games are staying in Early Access because that will no doubt get longer and longer. Players are expected to pay for part of a game and we are lapping it up, bonkers. BG3 will come out and it will be solid title mind you, but across the board I think we will get more and more failures to launch or just shoddy launches.
I must admit I EAed The Last Epoch. I haven't played beyond an hour. I EAed it to help them not really to play the game. I do not regret that at all because my goal was not to play the game.

I bought Last Epoch too. It was on sale for $20 and I still enjoy playing it. EA isn't a binary fence for me. I look at a project, where they're at, where they're going, how much they want, and what I think I can get out of it right now. Will I get my money's worth out?
This project is still way too green for me and they want a lot more than my arbitrary threshold (~$25). I don't feel like dealing with their issues right now, but I'm still very interested in the game somewhere down the line.
Last Epoch is great and a good model on how to do EA properly. They have a steady update schedule and communicate often and well. Very good project management.
The next Major update, 8.3 will drop on Sept. 3rd with many tweaks (especially for the Sentinel and Necromancer) and a new chapter that continues the campaign story.
I've been playing it on and off for several months now and is probably my favorite ARPG at the moment - it's that good IMO. I just love their character building system.

I hope these games pan out well, I have some of them on my wish list so I must have liked the look of them. It is when you say about EA games "I don't feel like dealing with their issues right now" that I wonder why you guys put yourselves through this?
I am not saying that only playing after launch is problem free, I can remember playing some Assassins Creed titles a couple of years after they launched and having severe control issues during some short segments that they never sorted out. To me "what I think I can get out of it right now" is difficult enough to evaluate after the game launches.
Recently I have played two games which even though I did everything I normally do to ensure they were for me I ended up playing for a couple of days and binning them, for me that was extraordinary, I can't remember the last year that happened if it ever has. That was really frustrating and will just make me take even more time before I dive in.
