The long, long awaited Legendary item revamp is finally coming to the Lord of the Rings Online. But how does the new system work? Check out our impressions from the preview server late last week!

So, Anfalas scrolls, hard to get, are replaced with "Ancient Scripts" and then to Cracked Tracery.
Traceries are tiered.
Reforging each 10 levels is replaced with...drums...reforging each level. Very "helpfull"
In short, they keep the same super-grindy Anfalas scroll system, just renaming it. Absolutely nothing changes so far in terms of insane grind.
Anfalas crystals and scrolls may be freely thrown right now. Maybe we will get some 1 silver coin for each. A kind of compensation from $$G.
And SSG task was extremely simple: make Legendary item, make it grow with you and that you have normal way to add enhancements, add and replace them. Period. Just look, oh icons of little competence, at Istaria's socketed armour/weapons! Look, copy-paste and use.
Instead of revamp, we get another insane grind for capped currencies and total removal of whatever good LI stuff we had. Yeah, SSG, you are example of phrase "epic fail".

I mean it should be a grind, they just shouldn't make it so bad that players keep buying P2W shortcuts.
My big hope for this new system is they will adjust and refine it as we go and just make it as good as possible.
I do understand the changes might make some people mad.
The tedious LI grind is a common complaint and reason why people quit the game completely.
I was looking through my post and didn't say it was great any where. I said getting anything in the game is a grind and no I have zero issue with people buying things from the store that supports a pve game. I do not understand why anyone cares if their neighbor buys some thing from the store that might save them some time if that is what they are short on. The issue I would have is if it is only buyable. I play a few hours at night with my wife and very little on the weekend and yet I feel like everything is within reach of our two person group and not overly grindy. Before the game went free to play and you could buy shortcuts it was grindy how many groups did we form for grinding sarnur deeds or angmar or mm it has always had a grindy nature. We can agree to disagree on that point for me I am looking forward to the implementation

Facts.
Current situation: 4-tiered Anfalas scrolls. Cap: none, keep as much as you have inventory/bank space.
Future situation: 4-tiered stuff. Cap: 1000.
Current situation: easy to get (Festivals!) Anfalas crystals. Cap: none, keep as much as you have inventory/bank space.
Future situation: very rare stuff. Cap: some (1000?)
Current situation: reforging LI every 10 levels.
Future situation: reforging LI every 1 level.
So, grind in fact is made worse than it is now. We have "revamp" that makes us grind very hard just to survive group of nearby on-level Orcs. But of course, store is nearby - feel free to spend hundreds of dollars/euros...
SSG had historic chance to make a truly legendary items. Of course, they failed and now all players would be doomed for maybe year-long grind. Year long (2 LIs!) to have chance to survive a fight...

This post is intentionally written as to not make any sense what so ever. Thank You Very Much.
There will always be grind in F2P to promote cash shop sales. I am not defending them though, just stating a fact. In games with cash shops, as more people with deep pockets agree to pay, as more the developer will cater to that kind of 'investment'. I hate systems like that, but people seem to want to spend thousands of dollars, generally speaking, and as long as players support that system by spending insane amounts of money, SSG will continue doing this. So yeah, there will always be an awful grind to promote specific item sales in the cash store. And F2P will always be P2W, as long as whales continue emptying their pockets... It's a sad reality we live in.
