MMO action-adventure game set in Games Workshop's Warhammer universe, Warhammer 40,000: Eternal Crusade, has officially been shut down . This comes a few months after the team at Behaviour Interactive made the announcement that the game was not long for this world.

    Not surprising. I watched a very good deep dive on this game a while ago and it looks like some serious case of mismanagement.

    They sold me MMO shooter game,Planetside in Warhammer 40k skin but they delivered me lobby shooter .

    I am trying to playing but never get in gameplay ,just game not was for me !

    There's always a new dawn when it comes to developers making new Warhammer titles, too bad the vast majority that do suck :neutral:. We've got Vermintide 1/2, Total War: Warhammer, Dawn of War (1-3), Warhammer Inquisitor, and Warhammer Chaosbane.

    Was this actually an MMO? I thought it was just a shooter. Warhammer games always seem to struggle.

    Initially it was billed as an MMO, huge scale battles, thousands at a time and then it became a lobby shooter. As time went on more features were cut or trimmed down. It's all out there to read up on. Lots of management and team changes, lots of promises and buzzwords thrown about. In the end just a huge scale disappointment.

    One day, eventually, we'll get a really great WH40k game. It's such a great IP and you could apply it to just about any genre. I am eternally amazed at how low quality most 40k games end up being.


    With Eternal Crusade, I remember following it through development. I started off very excited, but with each new blog or article, the scope got smaller and smaller and the design mistakes started piling up. I was very excited when it was still an MMO, and even when it turned into a lobby shooter I could have probably gotten excited if it had good gameplay and progression.

    It was pretty damn boring, for a game about giant honking space marines and orks. I'm guessing they had to cut out so many features, they were left with a shell of a game.

    It's not really a shame. Now the devs can focus on something that will work better.
