A Blizzard game is having launch day server issues? I'm shocked.

no its worse than just server issues they went and made it all online so during gameplay everything lags and you get hit across the screen and you warp around, its really unplayable

Sounds like UO when it first came out playing on dialup. Nasty!

unless things drastically changed, no, your singleplayer characters cannot be used online. there is no "oh the servers are down i can just play singleplayer instead"

Not only did they do all that, they rolled back every one's characters. I definitely gave up on it, they clearly have no clue what they are doing. Only amateurs have character roll backs.

Oh man I fell for nostalgia trick. Its same shit but this time with more pixels. I should leave old games in my nostalgia pocket rather than to try and recreate same feeling again as it wont happen.

We have certainly seen our share of nostalgia games this year...Blizzard seems to be one fo the worst offenders.

Wait 2 days, issues will be gone - first day is always marred with issues due to the massive amount of players, second day often sees a few hotfixes and server resets..third day usually fine

As if Diablo 3's inventory system where each item takes pretty much the same amount of space was better?

The inventory system in Diablo 1 and Diablo 2 is what made them RPGs - you had to manage your available space. Also in case you don't know, Diablo 1 started out as a classic dungeon crawler where the game is in constant pause mode and only when you make a move, the enemies around you move, it was later in development that they made it a Real-Time Action RPG and little by little the RPG element was diminished in further versions of the game.

Diablo 2 has less RPG elements than Diablo 1 and Diablo 3 is just a farming/grind simulator with flashy and fancy cartoon graphics. Diablo 4 will be the same joke as Diablo 3.

I wish Diablo 1 got the same remake as Diablo 2 did, that game was brutal.

Given what  I've played of the Diablo 2 remake, it seems decent. I can't comment on how it holds up to the original but it seems fine and dare I say fun.

So, having said that what's the issue?

The game is glorious and made by a different team. It holds up very, very well compared to the original, to a fault actually. 21 years old so archaic in many ways, but utterly essential.

It looks and feels exactly like how I remembered it. Then I switch to legacy mode, and I'm like, this is not how I remembered it.

yeah people complaining about the quality of the remake are just ignorant, the quality is good, but the forced online and networking system they implemented last minute is trash.
and no you can't use singleplayer characters online

Well, if I remember well, in the original version there was a separate league for completely online players (which was at first without hackers) and the league where you could bring your offline character online. In the latter, an impressive amount of players had their characters more or less cheated, from the duped items to unlimited health...

Unfortunately, I think comparing this to WC3 Reforged is a bit ignorant since they were done by 2 different teams. I was skeptical too until I found out the TH remaster team was on it, so Blizzard got my money (well technically not my money since I bought it with balance). Its fine to not support Blizzard on the other issues they are having, but the development team on this deserves respect imo. D4 does still have me concerned though. I think another important person on the team quick recently? Or am I thinking Dragon Age 4? Either way, both of those concern me, especially after EA's promise about reviving Anthem.

I waited until 1am on the 25th t play. I forgot about the release even though I preordered months ago because I been caught up in Tales of Arise. This article is actually what made me remember.

So, I figured there would have been enough time by then to stabilize. I am only in Stone Fields, but there were a few times where it seemed janky. I teleported and people died when I wasn't near them anymore. I don't play HC so I am not overly concerned, but I totally understand PVP and HC players concern.

Just bought my second copy so I can always continue my journey on my Switch. It plays brilliantly with a controller too. Online issues are severe on all platforms atm though.

I just completely turned my computer off, unplugged my ethernet cable, turned my computer back on, and was able to start Diablo 2: Resurrected 100% offline. I made a Druid, ran around leveled up to level 2, and logged out so I could reconnect and tell you that your post is 100% false in regards to not being able to play offline, you absolutely can.

You are correct about the offline characters being seperate from the online ones.

    1) You HAVE to connect to their servers once a month for authentication to just play offline.

    2) Many people ran into an issue related to this where they were unable to play offline at all.  They bought the game and couldn't play offline (even with an internet connection).
