I hope everyone finds the time to post a few impressions even anecdotes on here as their first days in game pass. From what Picard has said maybe while waiting in a queue to get back in?

Well, facts: you have American streamers playing right now while most people of my guild are sitting in a queue.
I'm usually quite tolerant for release days, but this reeks favoritism and amateurism.
Yes. you have to ask how did they get on? Streamers are a bane to online games, we started of with guys who did video reviews and guides who were a great help. Now we have these bandwidth hoggers who are stopping genuine players from playing!

At least we don't accept to be assraped by useless people like those streamers, like you "young" people do. This generation of weak fools feeding on reality TV shows and other worthless crap disgust me, yes, on that part you are right.
I'm proud to have been of the generation who grew up in the 80s, and not this actual generation of weaklings who feed from "social media".

You should know better then than suck streamer ass - but considering your posting habits, you're just here to antagonize, no big deal.
Maybe a lil. I'd rather watch the history channel, anything marvel, or news instead of a stream. I get it though. A kid who is in their late teens now has had a remote in their hand and selecting streamers to watch since 5. New is exciting to them. they will buy.

Here's the rub - they will not buy mmorpgs. Right idea from marketing teams wrong product.

That being said I'll probably check out a stream later today lol. Not buying, but I'll check out 10-15 mins.

Why would you check a stream? A review I could understand but the first day impressions of someone who is there just to increase there followers and maybe take a bung of some sort won't tell you anything.

I can see how a person interacts with the game in real time, for the most part unscripted. Watching a review is a person with a positive or negative opinion pushing that through. A streamer has to account for real game variables. You can get a better overall impression imo. Just gotta block out the noise.

I agree with BcBully. A player can actually see what the streamer is doing during game play.

Regardless of their opinion of the game you can see how menus work, what is required for crafting, how leveling works, what the moment to moment game play looks like. Then you can make a decision as to whether or not the game is something you want to try.

Because of the issues it causes the EU players, I am sorry to hear that. I created my names, didn't "login", figured I only have the stomach to do "launch" once.

Good luck with the queues.  15000+ players in the queue on popular servers. /OUTCH!

I tried a different server, but even the newer ones still have 400-500+ players in queue.

Queue progresses super slow too. After more than half an hour I went from 412 down to 360. :-/
This makes it borderline unplayable at the moment lol. By the time my queue hits zero its bed time again. :P

Feel almost sorry for people who claimed their favorite name and created this character on the high pop servers with 15000+ people in queue.
You won't be playing then anytime soon.

You would have thought that Amazon was the king of server scaling with AWS Cloud. :P

I don't think I need to see how the menus work to make my decision to buy a game, I would say many reviews tell you if not show you the crafting process. Yes they would miss out the moment to moment, but again not sure that level of detail is needed to make a decision, if I did I would watch a walkthrough which I realise you can't in a MMO.

Fact is, the MMO template is so similar now you can trust it will be like your last one and reviewers will highlight anything different.

Same here I just created a character to save my name but didnt actually log in , I logged out once at the queue.

I am going to NA east tritonis and I think I will log in now so my boy and I can get in game when he gets home from school and I think I will go pick him up directly so he doesn't need to take the bus!

Well I am watching the streamers right now, they are on character creation.  But yeah, queues for the popular servers are insane per their live experience (some are playing on throw away servers just to play for now).  The popular NA east servers have 9K to 15K player queues.

    Streamers have no priority btw.

It's cool to see the actual gameplay and not a 5 to 20 min review.  Why twitch is a good thing. ;)

FYI - If you watch fextralife (the top streamer for New World... 82K viewers right now)... you get in game rewards.  There are a ton of other streamers with drops enabled (for watching) too.

Watching a game in action as opposed to reading about it is two different experiences.

And while you might not have to see how menus work or whether the UI is decent, it does matter to some.

It takes nothing away from me to watch someone stream a game. Or anyone else for that matter.

His pitch fork is roasting streamer marsh mellows as we talk! :)

I was thinking of video reviews as well as written, I use both plus Metacritic and Steam rating. These days it is harder than ever in my eyes to be sure a game is "for you" so everything gets looked at. I will try looking at a streamer for my next game, they even have them on Steam and I ignore them.

I have to laugh, and had to share this.....

Played for awhile this morning (moved servers) logged out to do some stuff, waited an hour and a half to get in, and just as I got out of town to go mining...one of my dogs kept rolling his ball at me, wanting to play....ball went under desk, and he went after it, and pulled the power strip out....so hour and a half wait, (I was 215th in queue then) and 15 minutes of game time, and now I'm 388th in line, figuring that's probably a couple of hours more.

(No it's not the server issues others have had, but this one, as mad as it had me the moment it happened, had me absolutely giggling 5 minutes later. Priorities straight...now we have a few hours to play ball!

Amazon is giving a free server transfer in 2 weeks, so honestly? That's a pretty good call. Enjoy it for a couple of weeks, let it settle in, and then make a move someplace you really want.
