    I can recall the original iPhone - which I have sitting on my desk.

    It only supported 2G, or EDGE.

    It is ... slower than dialup. It's slow enough that even pictures buffer...

    Will AJAX work that slow? Sure, if your patient. The question is, why would you want to do that to yourself?
