Questions about EQ2?

spe277spe277 Member Posts: 28

1) There is crafting. If one was to start now is it anything like SWG far as, new crafters will never be as good as old est crafters.

2) Can you just craft to level or is all experience combat related?

3) I know it is not very solo friendly but at what level will you need to start to group to level really?

only reason I'm asking I am inbetween games I'm tired of SWG  and COH think of this til the fall when some new games come online and just want to know if it is worth it to start now?

Thanks in advance

ps..whats most populated PVE server?

I'm not sure how you would fair on any of the "blue" servers because I have been level 70 for awhile now.  But if you were to play on a pvp server you would find that the entire spectrum is saturated with players at all levels.  The pvp environment has revitalized eq2 for me.  A couple of my friends from my guild on crushbone have rolled toons on Nagafen and turned off xp at level 35 because it is a very fun level range to play in.

then do you have to pvp? is it like SWG you can still play but pvp when you want too?

No, pvp will find you one way or another.  You aren't allowed to run around as a "smurf" like in swg.  Once you hit level 10 it's open season.  You can try a blue server first (recommended if you are new to eq2) but I recommend pvp if it interests you at all.

yes, after making my last post I found the answer. I'll start with non pvp servers at first til I get comfortable. I'm not wanting to power level at all, SWG, COH I did, and it is really not worth it cause you only get tired if theres no end game. CU was it for SWG but that's a whole other story

Not necisarily, many crafters already have a head start but for the most part anyone can craft and be succesfull if they try.  If you are starting crafting i would do it on one of the newer PVP servers as the econemy on the newer servers is better for new people.

Crafting XP and Adventure XP and AA (special abilities for players 20-70, keeps people busy past lvl cap) XP are all seperate and they are earned sperately.  As for craftign there are 2 kinds of XP there is harvesting skill that you gain form harvesting from roots/fallen branches/animal dens/ rocks or whatever else there is.  THe more you harvest the more skill you gain allowing you to harvest in higher and higher lvl zones.  And with the new system people that have say mining skill 170 and they mine some animal den that only needs 20 skill, they will be able to get more than one item per harvest.  The other half of craftign is when you take these items to the different socities and turn them into products to sell to merchants or other players for cash.
Your crafting and adventure are totaly seperate, infact you can get a lvl 70 Jewler for instance and never get past lvl 10 or so (you get aventure xp from exploring while you harvest)

    3) I know it is not very solo friendly but at what level will you need to start to group to level really?
Whoever told you the game isnt solo friendly is wrong.  Its just faster and more fun with groups.  I soloed my first toon up to lvl 36 by soloing, then i got in a group and i never went back.  Still some like to solo and you can very well, just pick a good soloable class like  Conjuror or necromancer.  Still i sugjest grouping because if you solo you can never do dungens or finish some really good quests.

only reason I'm asking I am inbetween games I'm tired of SWG  and COH think of this til the fall when some new games come online and just want to know if it is worth it to start now?

    Thanks in advance

THe most populated PvE server swithces beetween crushbone butcherblock and unrest but im not sure, when you make your charecter scroll to the bottom of the server selecton scrren, the ones on the bottom are the highest Pop, NAgafen is the most populated, but thats a pvp server so pick the one above that.

THis game is not to the point eq1 is ware you cant do anything untill your lvl 50+ or so, you can get to lvl 30 in about 2 or 3 weeks if you really grind it out, casually i have gotten to 35 oon Nagefen in about 2 months, it slows down alot at about 25.

The new EQ2, better than ever befor !
