Might work, if they find honest people to work this.

Their cherry picking of participants doesn't inspire much confidence in the process or outcomes thereof.

They should let Asmongold, Preach and Bellular lead it given how many players they represent.

Asmongold will probably go back to FFXIV for Endwalker in few weeks, so.

PR or ...they really lack community feedback gathering, which is pathetic or .. just ignorance because....Blizzard.

And since we cannot comment on the other ...News which includes Ion ( for ... literally unknown reasons ), I still want to ask myself, how on earth is he still at Blizzard, or at least the Director of WoW ?!

That's the thing, none of them want to go back to WoW right now, at least the way they used too, they all seem to be having fun in FFXIV. That and I doubt Asmongold will be back any time soon, I can't imagine he's doing so good.

But ya as for the council, won't work, it'll be filled with the same type of people their MVP roster is. Nothing but people with superiority complexes.

It's hard to say what Asmongold will do. I'm sure he isn't doing well as you say, but people cope with loss in very different ways. Perhaps a bit of gaming distraction could provide him with some momentary solace during this time. Hopefully something will, anyway.

Amazing the things that happen when people stop playing your game after you've ignored your player base for the last two expansions. Too little too late. Your next expansion will have to be on par with WotLK to save you now.....and fire that pos Ion.

Ah yes... lets make a council of the most diverse people instead of the most qualified.

The Ministry of Truth is launched and it wasn't enforced on us by government it was brought to you by the people. Funny if it was not so dire.

    Lol..

It's a damn shame when people consider multi-millionaire streamers to be the main representatives of a game rather than, you know, the majority of players that don't watch streamers.

The day that an influencer starts making game-impacting decisions is the day WoW dies.

The only way to do this properly is to survey the active playerbase. I would much rather have a dude that doesn't stream but plays the game constantly be on the council than a guy that streams, gets money from third parties and some of their weird ass fans be on it.

    Two main differences between them:

    1) One makes money to entertain you while playing a game.

    2) The other is a dedicated WoW player that most likely is just playing cause they love it.

The entertainer is going to do what gets them the most money. The player is going to make decisions/give feedback based on what they consider good for the game.

If you think an influencer is going to be like the player, they are already lost to the fanboism that is the streamer crowd.

No reason to hate on people for their success. They pretty much play like most of us, only they broadcast it. The thing is most of those streamers started out just like any other average nobody gamer. They weren't created in a lab somewhere strictly for entertainment purposes. They just found their niche and people that like watching them play and BS as they play.

It's no different than a guild chat imho. Granted some get stuck with a lot of obnoxious kids in twitch chat; but that's unavoidable given the streaming platforms they use. If you ever watch Asmongold at times he has to reign the chat in like a parent, or they get him off track, it's kind of hilarious.

I don't watch too many streamers for games I already play. I have watched Raptor because that guy gets his hands on a lot of good single player sim games that look interesting. It's not like they force you to take their opinion of something as fact or force you to agree with them on everything since gaming enjoyment is subjective at times; but they do give people a window into a product they are interested in from a sometimes different perspective.

I have no idea where this is heading, but when I see the word "diverse", it nearly universally means my view is NOT included, and only a very narrow view of "progressive thinking" is represented.

The only diverse group a developer needs to hear from, are the players. I am pretty f'ing sure I didn't get to vote for who represents my views in this community council.

What I expect, and only from the many recent examples, is that I'm about to be preached to and interests of the people in the council are only addressed.

So is it just about you,  or everyone? I'm confused.

Eh? I'm guessing you don't get the reference. Everything I said is behind a big "IF".

I do!  YOU alone are not everyone. Everyone including you makes up everyone. If the majority of everyone doesn't align with your views, that doesn't mean its unfair or wrong, it just means you don't represent the majority of everyone else. Being louder doesn't make you the majority, it just makes you part of the vocal minority. How hard is that to understand?

First I never said to JUST include them.

Asmongold has the reach he does because he resonates with a large number of players.  You won't find a better conduit to a large audience of WOW players.

Preach and Bellular don't have the same reach but they've consistently predicted and explained the major issues and proposed many solutions that ended up being implemented.  Imagine that.

A council that ignores those people is likely to be just for show.

Oh and good luck surveying the playerbase as a whole lol.  They've tried before and are incapable of handling that amount of feedback.

They already had all the feedback in the world. On their forums, on youtube. It didn't help.
