You're way off base and the fact that the game is number 3 on the top MMORPG list on MMORPG dot com should be a severe hint.
You would think that would be helpful, but the number 1 (sometimes 2) gets pretty severe flak. Like EVE this is a bit of a niche game you have to get past your facination with Elves to apreciate the unique aspects. As a niche game it will not appeal to a wide variety of people so you will generally get some negative comments as a result. The best thing you can do is try to enrich them by talking about the aspects of the game you find enjoyable. Every once in a while you will get someone that hasn't looked at it at that angle and a different interpretation helps them to see some of the fun aspects they may have missied before giving up on it.
The game is dead , face it. 4 servers with very low population. They are already giving away free trials and still the population sucks. Its clear that most people don't like this game and it will be closing soon.
So you can bash everyone that doesn't like the game, it doesn't matter. The numbers speak for themselves.

Look, the game is not my cup of tea really either, but I don't think you can jump to the conclusions you're jumping to. Yes, the critical issue facing AA is the population issue, and whether the game can survive as a niche game. Other niche games have survived (look at EVE, for example, which very gradually moved toward larger populations). The critical question here is whether NC Soft, which, unlike CCP, is neither a one-game company nor the developer of this game, will have the patience with this title that CCP had with EVE. That's an open question ... but the failure of the game is by far not a foregone conclusion.
I play this game, only real problem is low pop. I think any game with pvp need a large pop. to survive. I have enjoyed my time playing, but with such a low pop. I feel like im play a single player game. I admit I sometimes like the solo option but I expect there to be a huge social part when it come to MMO's. Try the trial, and hope that ND merges all the servers, its a fun game if you into Twisted Metal or GTA.
Seeing what this game can deliver, I think despite the Low Pop right now, this game will catch on. People are naturally scared of change and need to gives things a chance. Word of Mouth is going spread sooner or later to the general audience of gamers.
I can only imagine with new expansions, what this game will deliver. If your one of them people that are unsure about the game, then just hold off then. Its usually the ones that become Vets in games that benefit from any game during launch time. Hopefully nothing gets NERFED yet. ROFL
I musta looted 3 cars last night, but cant use till I hit that level. I Love the LOOT system in this game and when the Auction House gets going. I think we are going to see some serious action happening.

Auto Assault is a very nice game. Something 'funny' is happening with me for that game...I am subscribing but hardly playing! *shrug*
Hopefully after Oblivion I will play more! The game is sweet.
Also, since you looove EQ2. The lag in EQ2 is far more intolerable than in AA, CoH or CoV...in fact the only game I find as bad as EQ2 lagwise is WoW.
EQ2 is a anti-freedom game, a game where peoples have to live with the herd. Low population is not a fair way to decide if a game sucks or not. With dozens and dozens of new MMOs coming out over the next year, many are going to have very low populations at the start. People can only afford 1 or 2 subscriptions in general, so this is just the way it will be. New games are always going to start small and build over time IF they are well written.
Ok will Warhammer be huge at the start, sure ok that is an exception to my example. But in general, most new games will be cursed with low population. So, if people rate a game based on that only, I guess new games truly are doomed.
AA has low pop, but AA is fun. Will it build? I don't know, I hope it does. But I will continue to play and hope for the best. Not one hour of my time in the game has been boring yet. I can't say the same for the "big" games out there.

Seeing that you apparently are the expert could you tell those of us that are apparently blind players exactly what the server load is at cap for each server? While you are at it, could you also tell us the exact population that now resides for each Race? I think we will also need to know the times you did the research and if those numbers you found include all players or just the ones online/offline.. Also, I am very interested in how exactly you have determined that a "free trial" means "doom"? Last but not least, at what time can we expect your very precise evaluation of pure proven numbers oh and how it is you know the game is dead or closing soon? If the numbers speak for themselves, I am guessing you have seen the accounting end of AA and will be replying shortly with your detailed answer.

Now this is a lucid, thoughtful statement to emerge in a garden-variety flame war. It seems either people LOVE this game, or they HATE it. Yes, by making a niche game, NetDevil automatically put a low ceiling on the number of potential subscribers. Worse yet, taking on a second or even third monthly fee really ups the ante, and I think is at the core of the low population even though people have a good time. Two of my friends got free trials and thought it was a blast, but taking $15 a month for subscriptions up to $30 really made them think twice.
I think the OP is entitled to his opinion, however limited the playtime. What really has me slapping my head, though, are all the posters who rip on the game because few others are in it. It is as though none of these people grasp the concept that if everyone who like the concept but complained about the lack of other players and quit playing because of it JUST STAYED WITH THE GAME for a little while, there would actually BE more players in-game-- a host of destructive light blue dots with whom to interact instead of the 2-3 you're lucky to find. But no, people log in, drive around, see no-one and give up.
I also agree that with all the emerging competition for the subscription dollar (and players' time), the only games that may start strong out of the gate are games that bought the license to a well-known franchise like Lord of the Rings Online or WAR and can cash in on that built-in familiarity.
I for one am still having a good time in the game, and am willing to pony up for a three-monther to see what the patch does, and whether the population picks up. Will I want to play forever at the current levels? No. But at least for the near term, I want to be part of the population solution if at all possible.
Yes, this game may indeed circle the drain in a snowballing vicious cycle to oblivion if not enough people give it a chance for a few months . If so, it would be tragic, and may ultimately stifle future attempts at niche games. If AA goes down in flames, so will many other fantasy-based on-line games that will have even LESS novel gamplay to offer.
Guys I played the game for 1 week till I got to level 18......all I have to say is what a boring game..Please do not compare this game to WOW or EQ2 it's a insult...The game is designed for people with a IQ below 20.
Bought the game played it till I got to level 18...I started playing MMORPG games since Asheron call and EQ first came out. I just find it Frightening what they call a MMORPG nowadays..Who knows maybe that is what it is...Maybe I am just getting frustrated at the gaming industry that they are catering to the gamers with IQ below 20. The game has no substance to it...drive as fast as you can and shoot in all directions...It should be a crime to compare that game to EQ2 or WOW...they are in a different ball park..that is Like comparing Wallmarkt to a 7/11..they both sell stuff but one has alot more content then the other. I see games like Guild wars,AA that are more like playing Unreal or Doom only that they let a few more people in the game. Alot of simple two dimentional minds will be upset at my comments....
with 3 posts under your belt.. We will all listen..
Sorry did'nt mean to be prude, but hate to break it to you, not everyones like you. then again, maybe your not like us. But I understand where your coming from, I really do.
There is no in between for this game, your either going to hate it or love it.

Next time attempt a spelling and grammar check on your posts before you start flaming anyone else’s IQ.
As for your opinion about what makes an MMORPG these days, you're entitled to it.

Whats really funny is that most EVE players look down their nose at the carebear simplicity of EQ2 and WOW. Since I play AA and EVE I must be really confused.

Haha you made me laugh. You wish they would get upset. So transparent its funny.
Anyway, Guild Wars + faction expansion has quite alot of content. You may not like the game, I don't care. But there are well over 40 instances not even counting all the PvP instances. And the depth in classes far outstrips EQ or WoW. Its elegance is truly amazing. So you are flat out wrong there.
AA? Yeah its a little thin on content. Still a great, fun game. Also doing some fairly revolutionary things game engine-wise for MMO's. I have enough to keep me busy and having fun for probably at least 3 months. Hoping the PvP is good as it offers certain unique things other games currently can't. We will see what happens but either way I am glad I am playing it.

No way in hell is AA, WoW, CoH/CoV or any other game in the same league graphically as EQ2. Thats like saying Martha Stewart is as hot as Jenna Jameson.
Despite all its faults EQ2 still has the best graphics of any MMORPG out right now. Vanguard will be giving them a run for their money and thats saying something since EQ2 has been out forever and VG is still in production.
It does?!?!?! I have played EQ2 at the Extreme quality settings and though there are a lot of extremely nice touches such as the water lapping at the shores or how the sun sets, I have to say that the characters still look like clay. The fighting seems stiff, the buildings seem uninspired to me. I find the Lineage 2, Guildwars graphics far far superior.
Like Skyrim? Need more content? Try my Skyrim mod "Godfred's Tomb."

Originally posted by Smirch I've really gave this game more than enough opportunities to wow me. I have came in during three different periods of beta testing and gave them a good month or two from release before checking it out again with the free trial. I cannot, in good conscience recommend this game for the follow reasons: Graphics, (Even maxxed out this game still feels like it should be two years old.) Features-Smeatures, (Yes it has a lot of dropped loot, but the loot doesn't feel significant. It's like having someone toss you slice after slice of bologna when all you want is one juicy steak. The missions are bland and lackluster; mostly requiring you to drive to point A then B then back to town. And the cars/character customization options are very cookie cutter.) Buggy, (Crashed several times from the server side and had numerous onscreen glitch problems) Not very fun, (MMORPGs should leave you wanting more and encourage social interaction. This game does neither. After zooming around and blowing stuff up for 15 minutes you pretty much have seen the scope of the game. And the most social interaction I've seen in this game was that time I was dry humped by Human bounty hunter's vehicle, which was coincidentally named Stinky Pinky.) Empty, (A lot of a good MMORPGs appeal comes from the community. If its a bustling community theres always stuff to do and people to do it with. AA is a virtual ghost town. Any time of the day you'd be hard pressed to find more than one server with a population above 'Very Low'.)
Like many people I was pulling for this game, but it looks like it is on its way to a slow, agonizing cancellation. I hope they can pull it out but I"m not holding my breath. Do yourself a favor and go buy Guild Wars: Factions or rest your post-apocalyptic hopes on Fallen Earth.
i cant agree with you more
i played the game sence beta invite two and i have played it every time i could
i played a bounty hunter and it was fun for maybe a few days but as you said after you did 3 quests get ready casue thats the same 3 quests with higher lvl mobs each and every time . the only reason i would EVER consider playing this game again would be to play it with friends , who played my account during beta and we all agreed the game was just plain , we been playing WoW for so long we needed a new game fast past action and we thought this was gonna be it and it turned out not to , CoH and CoV were better then this in all fileds of game play graphic's and communittie(sp?) AA is just an unfun game if your solo playing it (kinda like FFXI was)
right now i am not gonna lie fi you can put up with the little kids in WoW its the best game play game out there just make sure to join a PVP server for the most excitment ever (ganking on a rogue is so fun) and my hunter is still the shit

I'm guessing English is not your native language there.
Other than the fact that you love WoW and think WoW is the best game out, you didn't say to much about AA other than the quests feel like repeats to you (3 quests to be exact).
What Races did you try?
Did you read the stories that were presented to you with the quests or did you click the NPC then click the "accept" button and mosey on down the road? I ask because I find it hard to believe that the quests would seem so repeated if you knew the story behind the quest and the motivation behind the NPC's asking you for your help. Sure the quests are the same as they are in any and every single MMO game out there however, the stories are what make them unique. If you are not a reader, chances are you wouldn't know that (and there is nothing wrong with that) but it's something I as a gamer more precisely an MMO gamer would like to know about you before reading your opinion of a game.
Crafting? How was that for you? Are you a crafter in games or not at all. If so how did the crafting in AA feel to you? Would you say it's a worthy crafting system minus the fact that there isn't a way to sell your items easily to other players (yet)? Did you think it was crap and if so what made it suck for you?
Open terrain with completely destructible enviroments were not fun?
How about the Boss fights, did you get to attempt any of those and if so how did it go?
What about Convoy's, did you try out the Convoy system and in game chat?
Loot, what did you think about the loot in game? Was there enough of it, was it easy to obtain? Were you clueless as to what it was for?
Graphics, what was your opinion on the graphics and sound in game? Would you say the graphics match the setting or no? How did your computer perform while playing? Was it laggy at all? Did your sound cut out on you at all?
No death penalty, did you like that concept or do you think there should be a death penalty?
Was it the population that turned you off somewhat or did you see plenty of players?
Did you try out the RP server? Do you RP? Which server/s did you try out?
I would like to know a little more about the players and people that think the game sucks or isn't on par with other MMO's out. Saying the game sucks or is dull means nothing really if you can't explain that further. What specifically sucked and why? What were you expecting when you first logged in?
My opinion of your favorite game WoW is that it was cheesy. I only played it for about a week but it seemed a little childish and almost like I was playing a Disney game. The characters looked the same to me and when running in the desert I saw myself run past me at least 10 times which was a complete turn off. The battle scenes and fighting were dull and although the colors were pretty and yes there were several beautiful picture moments while I was in game, the game just seemed more or less like childs play and button mashing. It's been quite a while since I played WoW so maybe things have changed? The lag was unbearable as well. All in all I prefered EQ2 to WoW back then and now I prefer AA to EQ2. CoH and CoV are still my favorite games though but AA is running a very close second to those. All in all I feel like I get everything I have ever enjoyed in any of the games I play/played in Auto Assault.
There are two sides, each believe what they want to believe.
In the end, the longivity of the game is what will say who is right or wrong, as well as server mergers and the MMOG being sold off to the likes of SOE or something.
I played the game duing beta wave 5, played it for about a month, gave up on it, tried it again when they did the first major overhaul and found it to be pretty much the same game, except the car felt heavier.
I described what I felt was wrong with the game on the beta forums, and I'll state those opinions here as well, without trying to convince anyone the game is good or bad, just my thoughts on what the game required for me to enjoy it.
First off, when I first started playing it, I longed for a more Road Warrior experiance, with vehicles we could mostly recongize, vehicles from the 50's 60's 70's, and so on. The game offered more furturistic models with glowy bars, at least the buggy I drove around the whole time I played.
I wanted a more realistic car game, with phsyics that allowed for car flipping and rolling and actual damage to the vehicle when you crashed into some- thing or rolled over. The game offers more arcade-like gameplay, you can jump off the highest mountains and land without any damage, at least it was that way after that 1st major update of the game during beta.
I wanted more primitive weapons like in Road Warrior with crossbows, bows, knives, axes, and so on, with guns and other such weapons being much rarer to come across. The game gives you lots of choices from projectile shooting weapons to flame throwers and acide throwers. When I played, I didn't feel any need to use strategy to take out my target, just press the button and shoot. I was hoping for more Road Warrior tactics of blowing out tires, smashing into another vehicle to flip them over or even jumping onto the other vehicle to beat the guy's windshield in with a lead pipe. I wanted real cool car combat.
I was hoping for a more pvp game, not that I love pvp, but the Road Warrior type of game I invisioned sure needs the pvp enviornment in order for the game to work. I saw the open highways as pvp playground where gangs of players ruled and loners with fast cars dared tread to scavange what parts they could for their survival.
Any how, Auto Assault wasn't the type of game I had hoped for, it ultimatly didn't hold my attention, even though I did like the crafting part of the game, it just wasn't enough for me to want to continually do those repeatative quests of going out into the world and killing 20 of something or another, coming back, getting another quest to go do the same thing all over again.
In the end, if the game lasts a long time, the games defenders are right about it, but if the game fails to attract enough people and is pawned off to some company like SOE, or is eventually cancelled, then there was something fundamentally wrong with the game if it couldn't attract enough people.
Good luck to AA, I wanted to love it, and perhaps I may give it a try again someday in the future.

Damn, my 2 dimensional Mind.
Next time attempt a spelling and grammar check on your posts
before you start flaming anyone else’s IQ.
As for your opinion about what makes an MMORPG these days, you're entitled to
it.

Not sure why you gotta harsh my mellow, man.

i played the game sence beta invite two and i have played it every time i could
i played a bounty hunter and it was fun for maybe a few days but as you said after you did 3 quests get ready casue thats the same 3 quests with higher lvl mobs each and every time . the only reason i would EVER consider playing this game again would be to play it with friends , who played my account during beta and we all agreed the game was just plain , we been playing WoW for so long we needed a new game fast past action and we thought this was gonna be it and it turned out not to , CoH and CoV were better then this in all fileds of game play graphic's and communittie(sp?) AA is just an unfun game if your solo playing it (kinda like FFXI was)
right now i am not gonna lie fi you can put up with the little kids in WoW its the best game play game out there just make sure to join a PVP server for the most excitment ever (ganking on a rogue is so fun) and my hunter is still the shit
Have to agree with the op.
AA could be a good game, but for £8 a month theres no way they can hope to keep a healthy player base and compete with the top MMORPGS.
The content is paper thin and every quest almost identical to the one before.
Free to play with sold expansions is the only thing that will save it IMO - think Guild Wars.

In the end, the longivity of the game is what will say who is right or wrong,
as well as server mergers and the MMOG being sold off to the likes of SOE
or something.
I played the game duing beta wave 5, played it for about a month, gave up
on it, tried it again when they did the first major overhaul and found it to
be pretty much the same game, except the car felt heavier.
I described what I felt was wrong with the game on the beta forums, and
I'll state those opinions here as well, without trying to convince anyone the
game is good or bad, just my thoughts on what the game required for me
to enjoy it.
First off, when I first started playing it, I longed for a more Road Warrior
experiance, with vehicles we could mostly recongize, vehicles from the 50's
60's 70's, and so on. The game offered more furturistic models with glowy
bars, at least the buggy I drove around the whole time I played.
I wanted a more realistic car game, with phsyics that allowed for car flipping
and rolling and actual damage to the vehicle when you crashed into some-
thing or rolled over. The game offers more arcade-like gameplay, you can
jump off the highest mountains and land without any damage, at least it was
that way after that 1st major update of the game during beta.
I wanted more primitive weapons like in Road Warrior with crossbows, bows,
knives, axes, and so on, with guns and other such weapons being much rarer
to come across. The game gives you lots of choices from projectile shooting
weapons to flame throwers and acide throwers. When I played, I didn't feel
any need to use strategy to take out my target, just press the button and
shoot. I was hoping for more Road Warrior tactics of blowing out tires, smashing
into another vehicle to flip them over or even jumping onto the other vehicle to
beat the guy's windshield in with a lead pipe. I wanted real cool car combat.
I was hoping for a more pvp game, not that I love pvp, but the Road Warrior
type of game I invisioned sure needs the pvp enviornment in order for the game
to work. I saw the open highways as pvp playground where gangs of players
ruled and loners with fast cars dared tread to scavange what parts they could
for their survival.
Any how, Auto Assault wasn't the type of game I had hoped for, it ultimatly
didn't hold my attention, even though I did like the crafting part of the game,
it just wasn't enough for me to want to continually do those repeatative quests
of going out into the world and killing 20 of something or another, coming back,
getting another quest to go do the same thing all over again.
In the end, if the game lasts a long time, the games defenders are right about
it, but if the game fails to attract enough people and is pawned off to some
company like SOE, or is eventually cancelled, then there was something
fundamentally wrong with the game if it couldn't attract enough people.
Good luck to AA, I wanted to love it, and perhaps I may give it a try again
someday in the future.
