    Better performance.

So that bumps it up to about 2005 standards? And what about the UI? Do we still have to create macros like /hail to talk to a NPC? EQ was great in its day, but its kind of like comparing a 22 year old race horse to a Lamborghini in 2021.

The game is still commercially viable in 2021 with earlier standards than that. Apparently enough people like 22 year old race horses to justify continuing to brush it's coat.

I re-read old books, watch old movies I have seen before, still wear my favorite thread-bare jeans... and I still play old games that I enjoy. Where's the beef?

If you don't like it, dont' play it. But no one is expecting a game from 1999 to suddenly start looking or functioning like a game from 2005. It's from a different era. Either you can get along wit it, or you find something else to play and complain about.

Also, you could just target an NPC and press 'H' and it could hail the NPC.
