I tried this game about two years ago, and concluded that it was terrible because it was stupidly easy.  They had the basics of a very good combat system in place, but then scaled damage so that it didn't really matter if you got hit, as it wouldn't do much to you.  I don't think my life ever got below 90%, and I made it to level 18.

I tried the game again just now.  I've done five battles, but ended two of them at below 60% life.  This is on a new character, so they're probably some of the same battles that I did two years ago.  Some individual hits from bosses took about 10% of my health in a single hit.  Non-boss mobs basically still don't do anything when they hit you, but only take something like 1% of your max health.

I'm not very far into the game, and what I've seen so far isn't exactly hard.  But neither is it so easy as to be stupid.  If you just stand there and trade hits with a boss now, you'll probably die very early on in the game.  That's a huge improvement over where the game was two years ago.

At some point, the developers apparently got the memo that being effectively invincible until you reach level 90 is stupid.  And then they fixed a game that they had completely broken.  That's good news, and I think I just found a new game to play for a while.

I've just started the game and find the combat quite fun, and also found the challenge varied a fair bit between characters so the game will hopefully accommodate those with of various skill levels.

I'm just hoping to get a bit better performance out of it, as though it improved with the 64-bit client it still falls short in play at times, and almost always in town though not quite as badly as before.

Wanna try this game out or maybe blade and souls again.

Can you group up easily in this game? I don't like to solo dungeons etc.

I found the town very laggy when I played this so I didn't go beyond the first bit after the poor spider.

I had to turn some graphical settings down to make the town run smoothly.  I haven't had any frame rate problems out in missions at settings that are still fairly high--and a resolution of 4320x2560.

I'm actually not sure if it's easy to group, as I haven't tried it yet.  That probably depends mostly on the size of the playerbase.  The game does have discrete content that is intended for groups, as well as a group finder for it, but it's really just a question of whether other players want to do the same thing that you do.

Well, maybe I shouldn't say that it depends on the size of the playerbase.  Plenty of other MMORPG developers have found creative ways to make grouping inpractical.  Vindictus doesn't make any of the obvious blunders that I've seen in other games, but one should never underestimate the ability of game developers to make their own unique, creative blunders that wreck grouping.
