The void gauntlet has some interesting mechanics but its damage is underwhelming.

On the PTR you could start characters at level 2, 16 and 60. The void gauntlet at level 2 on the beach against Lost enemies deals 1/3 of the damage compared to a Life staff which isn't exactly a high damage weapon itself - no exaggeration. The Lost's resistance to void and lack of resistance against nature is that pronounced... who knew? It's good against The Ancient though, just not starter beach friendly.

It has a built in health > mana conversion instead of a block with the RMB, that is kind of harsh when un-specced but becomes godly when you increase the conversion rate and add the ability cooldown reduction perk to it.

It's pretty well an all-in on the left side skills weapon. Much like the Hatchet in that respect. The summoned blade lasts a good long while -  close to 100% uptime if you want it and it synergizes quite well with other skills and passives on the left side. There are a few passives on the right side worth taking - mostly to do with the health > mana stuff - but you'll be definitely focusing on the left hand side.

Another notable feature is that that basic ranged heavy attacks heal you for a portion of the damage done. Haven't tested the math but the heal from that seems like way more than it should be.

In other news they got rid of the food stacking exploit (that should have never gone live in the first place) that I was ranting about in another thread:
    • Fixed a bug that allowed the Well Fed buff to stack from different tiers and types of food. The most recent instance of the buff will now replace any previous versions.

Agreed. They're also trying to make it seem like the PvP-instigated Life staff nerfs are mitigated by increasing the healing when wearing light armor from 20% to 30%. My PTR testing tells me it's not even close to feeling the same.

I'm trying Void Gauntlet + Life Staff, that's a quite powerful combo now.
    Let's see how this evolves.

And I'm so happy no longer miss hits with my hatchet because of the hitboxes of some bigger mobs.

My company loves the patch, I only heard happy people for now.

I've often wondered that with the ESO PTR and theirs last 2 months not one week like this one.

WHen I see the phrase " a ton of fixes" that usually means a ton of new issues from the fixing......A patch to fix the patch we used to say.

It's possible they are rushing future content out early to try and keep folks onboard. Not saying New World is shutting down, or in the danger of, yet, but, a few MMOs in the past have done this, where they dump all the stuff they have been working on onto the live servers before a shutdown, as a last ditch effort to convince their publishers and players that "they are still alive and well and active".

Problem with NW is that the devs didn't know what they were going for right at the start, with the development of the game pandering to different random audiences at each stage, and as a result you get the generic broken messy jack of all trades that we have today.

If they don't do anything - blame them.
If they do something - blame them too.

    They just can't win.

Kinda usual on these forums anyway.

I can see maybe med armor being viable but light armor healers.....they gonna be 2 shot in pvp and in high lvl pve. lol

Healing aggros far too much right now even with anti aggro gems slotted.

I tried all 3 options on the PTR: level 2, level 16 and level 60.

At level 60 you have enough going on that you can get by solo in light armor just fine but low level in light armor is rough even when soloing same or slightly above your level mobs.

Ironically this change ostensibly aimed at nerfing heavy armor life staff use makes heavy armor even more necessary than before. For a heavy armor wearer the healing loss is noticeable sure, but the heavy armor damage mitigation more than makes up for the lower healing output.

I have no idea why, if the intent was to nerf the heavy armor paladin build they didn;t just do it directly by giving heavy armor a - 30% healing output debuff. This across the board nerf actually hurts light armor wearers the most. Pretty dumb IMO when the nerf to heavy directly would have been a much simpler solution

Heads up if you want to look like a fishing hobo. The fisherman armor skin set twitch drops are live and you get it by watching (or in my case just using a tab with the quality at 160p and sound off) for 1 hour:

I'm looking forward to seeing how this game evolves. I definitely have fun playing it at times.

    Money... check

    Talent... ?

And we'll have to see if the path that they take coincides with my personal preferences.

If not, well there is no hard feelings. Maybe I'll get lucky next time, plenty of fishes in the sea and all that jazz ;)

And new exploits, bugs and dupes! <-- That comes with every patch according to history.

I gave up on this game after the second duping fiasco.

I couldn't see the boots... do they come up to your mid/upper thighs like IRL fly fisherman or beach fisherman?  Also, I've never seen a fisherman wear a butcher's type apron while fishing (historically either).

A vest with more than 1 torso pocket would be better... but I'm glad they released released something.

And fishing is huge IRL ... my grandfather (RIP)... was no hobo... was sportsman :D. (Not really offended, and yes... have his fisherman's hat which is similar)

Good to see they are still updating at a good pace. Maybe in a few months the can make the same gains they did 3 months before launch.

Hobo is a compliment as far as I'm concerned. :) It's my preferred look in MMOs. I absolutely detest all the crowns, tuxedos and all other forms of fancy dress-up shit that has invaded MMOs usually courtesy of cash shops.

    This I would wear.

I'm the same IRL. I've been wearing blue jeans, black T-shirts, leather jacket and boots for more than 50 years. I'd wear it to weddings and funerals if my SOs and kids wouldn't object :)
