imageIndie MMO Spotlight: Lances, Kensei 2.0, And New Galaxies | MMORPG.com

With the holiday and all, things were a little quieter than usual this week. Even so, there were still a lot of things happening in the indie MMO space this week, including three new entries into the IMS. One thing I didn't list was all of the Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals, so be sure to check out your favorite indie MMO for any special deals. Anyway, hopefully you have come out of your turkey coma by now, so let's get started with this week's Indie MMO Spotlight.

Galaxies of Eden is a Star Wars Galaxies clone, and I can respect that.

Ravendawn sure has a broken web site. Whoever create the site really should have tried resizing his browser window before pushing the site live.

It also looks like the game is going to be full loot, non consensual PVP. It doesn't explicitly say "full loot", but it does talk about other players being able to attack you and steal your stuff. Unless there are some awfully harsh restrictions to crack down on griefing, that can quickly make the entire rest of the game superfluous.

That's expected from a Tibia otserver, they're usualy reused assets with very little creativity, in my experience.

First time I see Galaxy of Eden and this really looks like SWG without the SW license. Definitely gonna keep an eye on this. Ravendawn also looks interesting.

Galaxay of Eden certainly has my attention, never heard of it before, it instantly brought back memories SWG, as above posters also mention.

Mir corporation, is based in toronto, canada, i dont know why, but this gave me a little more "hope", not a fan of most eastern developed games.

i had not suspected that i would suddenly, out of the blue, be hoping for a "swgish" Mmorpg to succed.
i guess this is my december present, despite not quite being in december yet :)

a bit of info i found noteworthy:

What engine Galaxies of Eden uses?
Galaxies of Eden is powered by Unreal Engine at the client side and MIR Server Engine at the server side.

MIR Server Engine is written in C++ and has been specifically crafted to let players immerse themselves in a detailed, heavily interactive online virtual world. There are plans for the engine to be open sourced and made available to other developers to use, with a revenue share agreement, soon after Galaxies of Eden releases.

What will be the payment model?
Galaxies of Eden is planned to be subscription based.

Ravendawn is amazing and no its not a Tibia clone. It has a similar 2d isometric art style but the game its self is very deep, No set class system so play as you want, archetypes and skills to crafting and building your own house or even crafting and selling trade packs by wagon on land or by boat at sea. Currently Alpha 3 but already very playable and enjoyable.

Didn't get much traction back in August, but here's a thread I had started on Galaxies of Eden: https://forums.mmorpg.com/discussion/495139/galaxies-of-eden. Nice to see the development getting a bit more attention now.

Main takeaway was the KiraTV video in which I thought he gave some decent info/opinions:

This is a great post. I like this topic. I found many interesting things from this site. Thanks for posting this again.

Glad you like it. I go through the games' websites, discords, steam pages, and twitter each week so you don't have to. I also browse through a few subreddits and other MMO and indie game sites. I still miss stuff and am always on the lookout for new games, so be sure to let me know if you find any he's I'm not covering yet.

Looking at Ravendawn reminds me of the old days playing UO
