Well my take it this all,
* Now the landscape courtesy of the bigworld engine/mafate/vworld ( waiting on someone to explain this to me ) is visually stunning viewing distance on max settings is the best i have seen in any game, the new structures and towns also blend nicely into the surroundings and are also intricately detailed.
*The character creation as it stands is quite ordinary possible the worst i have seen, limited choices on almost everything. And the character models look terrible, as you can see.
*Ui is terrible like SoG but harder to see and understand if that was possible.
*Translations from french are incomplete.
i wont comment on anything else as i have not experienced enough of game, to give an honest opinion.
All in all i was not to disappointed, why because my expectations were lowered, for those expecting the greatest show on earth you may get a rude shock. Ill play the game as im a pioneer and have 2 months "free" access. If they get the lag down PVP and exploration (my favourite) might actually be enjoyable due to large size of the land. But it will need a lot more than that to play with the big boys of MMORG's i think.
Ooooooh now I understand why the DnL fanboys/girls say the graphics are so way better now.
But well, you know, it is like compareing the first car which got manufactured with a car from 1995. Of course there is improvement, but not really enough to call it up to date in my oppinion according to those SS. Would love to see some buildings tho. Thanks for the SS. I can totally believe that those did not got manipulated.

But you can take as a complement the redeeming feature of this game is the terrain modelling
I'm not here to tell your what you have to write or who you have to mention. Just funny to see you misquoted the name of the "redeeming" terrain technology, but I already predicted some people were bound to do this. Don't take it bad, your are not the first, certainly not the last.

After playing SoG, I really got to love the environmental graphics. Even though the weather effects were very limited, I enjoyed that part of the game, too. Character models left a lot to be desired, but as far as the landscapes go, I think they are among the best of any mmorpg.
This is the only good thing I have to say about Dark and Light.
To be honest i couldnt give a shit what u think, i was however trying to be polite and acknowledge who was needed. The screens (the last two on my third post) were taken by me during SoG (believe it or not up to you again i couldnt care less.)
And if you think im defending this game again up to you i dont really care, maybe reread the previous posts of mine and have a think again.

At distance I will say the landscapes were cool, however up close the terrain and weather effects were fairly miserable too me. It was very obvious that the graphics engine started out as a weather simulator.

BigWorld once again has nothing to do with the procedural landscape creation in DnL : it's the server technology used in DnL. I was lead to believe that the bigworld engine was responsible for the world creation, obviusly from a few other posts they have corrected me, either vworld or mafate 1.5. Both of which ring a bell no i think about it. Again i dont pay to much attention to what runs what in the game as its not my forte'.
Trust me i enjoy being corrected its the only way we learn.
Mafate = a game engine making use of not in-house developed technologies: BigWorld, VWorldTerrain but also others as DblManager (a scenario tool, no link) or Loona (a modeling tool developed by Dream-up company) Link in French only: http://perso.wanadoo.fr/dreamup/Entrer.htm . Mafate is an in-house NPCube developement tailored for the needs of DnL.

the lack of shaders in the 1.5 engine is obvious as we can see from the screen shots.link of tranlation stating lack of shaders (ozerworld quote)
hopefully mafte 2.0 isnt that far behind
but this game does look better then, fenterus(sp), and a few other mmos that are comming out soon.
hopefully with mafte 2.0 and the addition of pixel shaders will made this game look even better.

Vworld = Landscape and terrain (which is what they stole, borrowed, took, made. Whatever the discussion is in another thread.)
