Much like a trip to the moon, the story of FFXIV's latest expansion aims to cover plenty of ground (or space). Does it succeed?

I haven't gotten far in the expansion but I did see a few cat girls simping for the male Viera bunny boys along the way. Looks like we found female Miqo'te kryptonite.

I wish I understood any of this beyond the word "expansion."

Good, we must ensure the catboy empire falls.

nothing concrete really in terms of article .just put the word spoiler and go on about what are the weak and strong points. just putting the words" promise" and digress and worth it doesnot prove anything if the expansion is worth it or not.

Holy crap are people on here bitter, Jesus Christ. Bitching about subscription based game, calling it a singleplayer game and being overly ignorant.

Next one complaining about queues, like that is a new thing in the industry...?

I don't know why I reply to this bitterness, but you guys should really go outside.

I have to agree, though I don't play gaming mates who do rate this as one of the best handful of MMOS out there. FFXIV does not please everyone and that's fine, we don't want MMOs that please everyone we want them to be unique enough to only please some.

MMO for weebs and freaks. Paying monthly sub just to experiance single player story and to see wierdos roleplay in cities.

Like it ain't happening in any other MMO on the market. lol!

You got weirdos in every game. Just like you got a-holes that like to gank all the time in PVP MMOs, but aside from all that the majority of people are just gamers enjoying the game and are actually nice to group up with.

FFXIV is anything but a single player MMO, as you're forced to go through a large number of instanced group content.

While in MMO's like WoW you can actually skip group content alltogether and really do play solo 100% if that is your fancy.

Imagine making fun of people for playing a "Massively Multiplayer Online Role-playing Game" because it is not the right breed of nerd for them. Like, dude, you are on a video game forum on the internet dedicated to MMOs. You are not better then any of us.

When WoW release xpansion you have week long celebration and new. Meanwhile in FF, no idea if it has new expansion release or not. Absolutely nothing is happening.

This makes no sense at all. The game is packed to the brim and has 5-10k ques every night on all the servers.

I was left overwhelmed by many feelings about the story. Good feelings. The story was epic, the music was emotional and the messages were both heart wrenching yet hopeful. I can't think of any other game that had me so gripped in the story and DIDN'T fuck up the ending. The ending here was amazing and I'm left a little sad... will I get to have this complex cocktail of feelings again?

It's not the end for FF14, just this story as Yoshi-P said. I can't wait for the next expansion already.

I love the story, but game play, not so much. I like one job, and they overhaul the thing every expansion. I don't like the changes yet again for this one.

I'm not an IT Specialist, Game Developer, or Clairvoyant in real life, but like others on here, I play one on the internet.

Agreed.  I dislike the art direction, but am still going to give it a try because it's really not bad, just not to my tastes.

Now, the account creation, what with Steam, Square Enix, and Mog Station all trying to be separately involved in the purchase and activation?  That is something to make fun of!

as I got to understand from the trailer, Endwalker, a heroine, listens to a storey about the numerous trials and tribulations her companions through while she was away. She adds through tears, trembling with emotion, "It was well worth the effort. It had all been worthwhile." So far, I'm approximately halfway through Endwalker's journey and at level 88 out of the new level cap of 90, but that's also how I'm feeling.

After its 2013 remake, Final Fantasy XIV has somehow just become better.

FFXIV's  story has always been its strong point. They really work on it earnestly and made it interesting. There are also the Hildibrand quests that must not be missed.

Those are hilarious. Rarely ever do I laugh at attempts at comedy in MMOs because it's hardly ever funny, but there were moments that had me laughing playing that quest-line. The camera angles, facial expressions are gold.
