This my favorite part of the interview:

“Even if its not all finished like we’d like, but we have too much
delays so now we have to get it out, its time,” says Quilichini

Dear god, i cant believe they said that.

In other unreleated news Ford motor company has released a new car they have been working on for 6 years, although currently there is no engine, brakes or suspension, Ford believes that it is time to release it due to  a the amount of time it has spent in pre production.

did anyone else get the impression that the attitude of the devs is "oh whatever, just release the damn thing and hope for the best."

Only if you consider the "core" of the game the stuff that most developers get working within the first 4 months of Alpha.

haha, when the concept of DnL first floated around that sounded really cool.  However now people are starting to realize how flawed some of the fundamental concepts etc... are

ah I dunno, sure as heck sounded good and prolly within experienced and knowledgeable hands along with a good rep in both games and customer relations, it prolly couldve been pulled off with the previous 7 yrs in production.

Actually my favorite part was 54.99 for the initial box, that gave me a chuckle!

Ayup. That opens up the "for our loyal fans" bit...we are doing it for them...its not ready yet but we owe our fans..its not ready yet but we owe our fans who have to pay premium price for an unfinished game...FArlan should have known they blew their credibility with most of the major mmo sites..what makes them think putting this out would have made anything any better.

For the low low one time price of fiftyfour ninetyfive!

lets look at it this way

    Total cost to play DnL:

$4000 uber gaming puter and accessories ( it doesnt run well with anything other than top hardware so shell out the mullah in order to have the high end graphics and ram so you can then reconfigure, delete, move, rename and generally corrupt it for playing any other game that doesnt require any puter knowledge- which is about every other game out there)

$54.99 full upfront game price for an unfinished game. (btw - the pioneers were charged $59.99 so they owe them a $5.00 refund)

$14.99 a month subscription in order to get the full access to the not full access and available portions of the game. Two year cost $359.76 as by then you would have a somewhat stable engine and some of the 7yrs ago promised features. Figure in a possible accounts payable item of a 5 year term investment as it will take the devs that long to have a halfway decent game that would have been acceptable 5 years prior.

PRICELESS the amount of frustration, tears, boredom, confusion, misinformation, miscommunication, no communication and broken promises that the boards will light up for the entertainment seekers.

  • damn! No free toaster? No 20 pc Ginsu knives if we act now?

Nope, but you do get a Farlan EULA lifted from SOE:

Software Available on this Web Site
Any software that is made available to download from this Website ("Software") is the copyrighted work of Farlan Entertainment and/or suppliers. / ... / or redistribution is expressly prohibited. The Software is warranted, if at all, only according to the terms of the license agreement.
Except as warranted in the license agreement, soe hereby disclaims all warranties and conditions with regard to the software, including all implied warranties and conditions of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title and non-infringement.

And it made me think "hey, did they just visit Sony Online Entertainment and ripped their EULA, changing the name?" I would be a huge laugh, seeing the EULA in itself is a lot about copyright and infringment :-)

    How pathetic....

Fans will surely find the comedic humor bonus in that! WOOT!

oh most definitely not - they changed it too fast for it to have been deliberate -- but then again..I wouldnt put it past them to use that as an excuse - as "a gift to the loyal fans" LOL
