Another year, another Elder Scrolls Online year-long story. Earlier today the official Twitter account of ESO tweeted out a teaser, promising more info tomorrow on exactly what the team has planned next for the MMO series.

Can't wait! Hoping this expansion is has a little more to it than Blackwood did. I feel like there was some good there that they can build on but it was lackluster.

It'd be cool if TES goes to the other continent but I seriously doubt that ESO would get the honor of going there first. If (when?) it happens I'd bet it would be in a single player game.

Here is what it will include
    - New raid, that rewards you with worse gear or gear you already have.
    - New armor/weapon motifs.
    - New map, with same content as every other map.
    - New quests, that feel exactly same boring as previous ones.
    - New mounts, pets...than most are sold in cash shop.
...and if we are extra lucky...
    - New class, where you swap out most of the class skills, because weapon skills are superior.

ESO expansions have always been same meaningless stuff. Yes you get the story, but the story takes place in MMORPG, where you experience the story 100 times worse than you would be in single player game.

New mounts, pets...(slightly reskinned versions of existing ones you have 5 of of already) This game was fun for a while, but it really should be better than it is.

It's sad for me to say this, because ESO had been my go-to MMO for a while, but it really feels more lackluster with each new expansion.

As others said here already, you can predict what they're going to release... A short story-line, a new kind of Dark Anchor/Dragons/etc. World Event, new motifs... It's all become so cookie-cutter.

Of course, it'll feature a new season of loot crates, from an ever more present Crown Store, where ZOS hopes you'll spend lots of money, trying to get something other than potions, scrolls, duplicates of items you already have, or new items you don't want but aren't given the opportunity to convert to gems.

Combine that with the rather poor showing they've had in terms of community engagement (their CD's dismissive, caustic attitude on stream toward sincere questions asked by notable content creators, etc)... Their tone-deaf, script-flipping "hot-potato" type responses to community requests for more communication...

I don't know what the heck is going on with the ESO team, but it seems like they've lost their way over there. Maybe a little too cozy with their "place" since things turned around for the game.

I wonder what overpowered set(s) this one will include to get people to buy it because it is use or lose in PvP....only so they can nerf it into the ground once they sell enough. One thing you can guarantee....the crown store will be stocked fresh.

Another terrible DLC with rewards that we won't use? How sad is it that Mother's Sorrow and Hundings Rage is better than any DLC dungeon gear. Oh wait, we have Briarheart. Another overland gear set that is a PITA to farm.

You've never played ESO have you... Please don't spread misinformation like this.

There are no sets whatsoever for sale in the crown store people. No idea why this person is trying to insinuate otherwise.

so many haters, ESO is still the best mmo. if you think ESO is bad story wise, you are delusional in regards to the story content of every other mmo which is just walls of text, boring fetch quests, and mindless back and forth crap.
I'm playing through main story of ffxiv again and my god the fucking trivial garbage it has you doing is so mind numbing.

yeah the expansions are formulaic , okay? its not a subscription based game, its playable without one. so trying to compare price points of a game where you have a mandatory 15 $ a month fee to even launch it and update it, is a joke. you are paying 15 + 40 for your endwalker experience and 15 every month after that

Well, to be fair to ZOS they didn't exactly invent the formula of introducing new classes, skills or gear in xpacs erring on the side of being OP.

Blizzard has been dong the same for years and then they homogenize it all through nerfs in a year or two until it plays just like all the other shit. They did exactly that with DKs, monks, and Demon Hunters And the demon hunters, being the newest, are the only ones that haven't been totally overnerfed yet. At least they hadn't been a year ago when I last played,

Can't tell you about other MMOs off the top of my head but this is pretty well standard operating procedure. The whining would be much worse if they added new stuff underpowered.
