Did this on SWTOR when my old account became inaccessible- BioWare could not recover an account with a good chunk of Cartel Funny Munny spent on unlocks plus a 6 month sub.
I ragequit in a huff.
Fast forward a decade or so: I got the itch to play SWTOR again, as a certain beskar-armored gunslinger and his adorablely cute Force sensitive Green infant took over geek pop culture. Made a new account that included a tribute to Mando Guy and his verdant little Force buddy. Mando-clone is now just hitting Shadow of Revan. I start hitting new (to me) content with KOTFE and KOTEE.
After a long break from any game, mmo or otherwise I always start over. Preferably on a new server or without any saved up wealthfrom the last tme I played. I even went so far as to buy a game (Dungeon Defenders) twice, just to get a clean reset of all unlocks and achievements.
I am still keeping to my news years resolution, I will note that compared to some of the items that gamers are expected to want like earplugs, consoles seem a good deal.
Well I'm more likely to purchase a PS5 than say, VR rig....no interest at all in that tech.
I can't stand wearing full covering the ears head sets, buying only those which rest on top of my ears instead so I can hear ambient noises.
I also always sit facing the doorway in any room, threat awareness at all times.

Vanilla WoW is probably the only one that can get me to do this. Especially with the Turtle WoW Vanilla+ server that constantly adds new lore-friendly content to the game (last they added High Elves and Goblins and some zones that Blizzard scrapped), it feels like the Vanilla WoW we always wished, but never had, but now we do have.
I enjoy playing LOTRO and Project Gorgon too, but I feel like once I finish the story with my Guardian in LOTRO, I may never start over, the atmosphere in the game and the story is great, but the combat and other such mechanics don't seem to offer too much challenge. Especially with the LI 2.0 update, my Blue Guardian became a literal terminator, before it took a while to kill a mob, but at least it felt more visceral as I had to complete a whole rotation from the "1" key all the way to the "=" key, but now I just manage to press 1, 2, 3 and the mob is dead, which is not bad if I want to progress without a challenge, but I wish they would add the difficulty system to the regular servers so we can get more challenge into the game, and hopefully the graphic updates come soon and they are awesome and hopefully there would be x64 engine optimization and maybe some reduction to the lag for EU players such as myself.
Project Gorgon is going to have a partial wipe when it launches so I will kind of be forced to start from the beginning, but unlike some players who outright refuse to play, because they are afraid of "losing progress", I actually don't mind learning how stuff works and then experience it for a second time with better graphics and more polished, it will only make me appreciate the game even more.
Fresh start? oh boy yes, i've probably fresh start Ragnarok for more than 30 times since it's release in 2003,
I've probably made over 30 characters with different builts in both official and private servers, both pre renewal and renewal.
The thing is there's so much built to be made in Ragnarok, that's the one thing i like about it is that you really have a control over all the stats ( not automatic like some newer mmo )
every build will give you different outcome in class damage

Hey, I live in Florida....
A VR rig would be more likely for me, as much as I was saying "they were not there yet" for me to get VR, I had hoped this new wave of VR would see some substantial improvements after a few years. We still seem to have basically what came out in around 2016, but maybe there will be a leap forward in the next few years. The sets need to be lighter, not so many headache (and skin rash!?) problems and be more taken up by gaming studios for titles.

I got PSVR, but played on it less than 5 minutes. The only decent game was Resident Evil back then and can't say that I am a fan of aiming with my head. I believe it has gotten much better since then. But I will probably try it again on PSVR II.

Fresh start as in starting new characters - certainly.
Fresh start as in deleting everything and starting from scratch - nope, that would be weird and completely against the very core of why one plays MMOs, versus offline games.
