The game itself looks interesting but being under the thumb of Gamigo is a very big albatross around the game's neck.

Have you played the game? I have.

I has zero content outside of crafting and fighting mobs. The world is barren and empty, there is no direction or anything. I don't want games to hold me by the hand, but at least have some story or background, to know who my character is, what is he doing in this world and what is the general situation - are we the good guys, the neutral guys, the bad guys, what are we doing, who are we fighting, what is our universal goal as a collective, not the individual goal of gather 5 pork snouts and kill 5 wolves outside of town and come back to me so I can send you to kill 5 bandits and collect 5 dandelions.

Then this game aint for you, There is no collective goal (tho it has 2.5 sides to be on)

This game is more UO, Albion, shadowbane, camelot. the non-story mmo's, the only thing that guides you is youre own goal. collect,pk,protect,build,sell,hunt.. whatever you want to do..If you want to know its story..go out and collect the snippets you can find.

you cant really condemn a game in alpha for content. At least wait until beta. Though i do have the feeling sandbox style games are not your thing.

The Elder Scrolls III Morrowind is a Sandbox game in the RPG sense of the world, where your actions can affect the world, quests, NPCs, your reputation and whatnot.

This is not a Sandbox - it's just a crafting simulator with an empty world. Don't make this mistake. These games are not Sandbox, they are Scambox. They sell you and empty game about nothing and expect you to build the rest of 99% of the content for them, for free, or rather have you pay for the privilege to build it for them.

If a crafting simulator for you is a "Sandbox" then LOTRO, WoW, Project Gorgon or whatever are also Sandbox games, because they also have crafting.

    Titanium-solid logic.

Yeah, this game wouldn't be for you.

And there is nothing wrong with that - I say that as a person that enjoys story based games too.

However, the downfall of a themepark is the rails you ride on that really limit creativity.

I had no idea Age of Empires 2, Heroes of Might and Magic 3, Go/Weiqi/Baduk, Counter-Strike, Insurgency: Sandstorm, GTFO were Theme Park games... You're funny. xD

The monetization that Gamigo forces on the game is what I worry about. It does have some nice ideas though.
