    I highly agree. Insectoid Alien Race, with lore, with an insectoid alien customization character screen? With insect armor and an alien insect world to explore? YES. Jeez...

    Why hasn't anybody commented? The ideas for an insect race would be Killer. The sylvari are the only close enough race I can imagine. But Guild Wars 2 doesn't have any cool classes that match that aesthetic. sadly.

    Huh, wonder why the system resurrected  this 2007 editorial with today's date?

    Perhaps in rememberance of the author who if I am remembering correctly passed away unexpectedly quite a few years ago if so, RIP Laura.

    If Blizzard would have ever made a StarCraft MMO we could have had the Zerg, which were insectoid in my mind, in an "Aliens" sort of manner.

    Judging how players eschew playing "ugly" races and most players, especially women I know kill all insects in games with little remorse I can't see them being used as a player race, much lest a world full of them.

    I have never seen him do anything that deserves a ban. Am guessing people just don't like his opinions. /smh
    That's a guessing game we can't have read every post he has made and he did do loads of threads that should not have been in the Pub; if that is all this is just stop doing threads in the pub that should be in General Gaming etc.

    That's a guessing game we can't have read every post he has made and he did do loads of threads that should not have been in the Pub; if that is all this is just stop doing threads in the pub that should be in General Gaming etc.
    Naw, it isn't due to incorrect post placement, they've not been very strict on that in years and they could easily move them to the correct category with a warning which they used do but it's been quite a few years since I've seen it here.

    I think what happens is when someone is critical of his NFT / Crypto posts he lets himself get baited into making it personal, I've seen him start chiding the other person with slights about their character or views on the subject. (Used to do same with anti FFA PVP posts)

    That's when the anti-NFT "pit-vipers" laying in wait strike.

    Full disclosure, wasn't me, I enjoy his posts as I always learn something even if NFTs aren't something I support.

    At least that's my theory on it. Speculation, it's just what people do.

    In college, I played a few sessions of Empire of the Petal Throne (tabletop) with an entomologist graduate student for a DM.  Be careful what you wish for.  B)

    Guys I really doubt he would be banned for unpopular opinions about NFT's. But his reaction to having to defend himself from so many posters may have made him step over the line. You must develop a bunker mentality when doing that, though of course he brings it on himself.

    Hard to say, offending text may be deleted, but he did mention last time he didn't receive any explanation for his ban which is a complaint I've seen others raise recently.

    Or the insects in Ender's Game.  Come to think of it, evil aliens are often portrayed as insectoids.

    If you set yourself to be permanently batting back at other posters you are creating a bunker mentality for yourself. Delete did the same and I note more of us supported him. You must feel assailed and become totally defensive in respect to posters comments. But if you keep doing threads like that you are bringing it on yourself. This is all speculation mind you.

    I assume that if you are banned you can't log in, which means unless you get a warning. sending an email is the only way someone who is banned could be notified by the staff.

    I strongly disagree. Ok to speculate a bit, discussing this is useful:

    - You speculate that because he is one against everyone he probably broke down and lashed out. It is possible but it would be better to accuse a poster only if we knew that happened.

    - You say making threads against the groupthink is "bringing this on himself". That's discouraging differing/unpopular opinions and is extremely unhealthy for a forum like this, and probably one of the reasons this community is shrinking. Is that the kind of community mmorpg.com wants to be? As long as they are civil, posters should not be discouraged to voice an unpopular opinion.
    If this was the result of one post I would imagine (pure speculation) that's why it occurred, I see that as more reasonable than "the staff object to NFT's".

    People should challenge group think, just be prepared for how that may effect your own thinking as you battle all corners. I think this can take posters unawares, but as long as you realise it can happen, crack on.

    It is not the first time he has been banned. I don't think it is right to discuss this ban and make aspersions against members of the community and the staff when we know not the circumstances of his ban.

    But you see where speculation leads? We already have posters casting doubt on each other, that's why I see such a discussion as usually fruitless and somewhat damaging.

    If you guys want to play with insects, "Grounded" can be kind of fun. It's a survival game though ;)

    Could make for a cool MMORPG ;)

    I think an MMORPG based on the premise that the human race was shrunk down to the size of ants would be totally awesome.

    To gently steer the conversation back to the topic, both Entomorph and Bad Mojo showed me the awesomeness of playing an insect many years ago. I wouldn’t mind an insect race in an MMORPG one bit. A whole world about bug life might be a bit much.

    'This does not apply just to ED but SC or any other game. What they will get is Rebirth/X4, likely prettier but equally underwhelming and pointless. 

    It is incredibly difficult to design some meaningfull leg content that would fit a space ship game - simply because it is not a leg game.

    It is just huge resource waste....'
