Is there really a point in having a 4k 27 inch monitor I mean it 27 inch so does it make that huge a difference?

I mean if you were talking a 32+ inch or so sure but those a 27inch screen really benefit from 4k?

Is there really such a visual upgrade going from say 1440 to 4k on a 27incher?  Does your eye really see the difference or do you need 20/20 vision?

It does make a difference for things like flight sims where you can see and appreciate minute details.

Other wise I prefer the awesome picture and awesome response of 2k.

Another gpu generation or two and we’ll be debating 8k over 4K

How many pixels per square inch can your eyes actually distinguish?

It depends on whether I'm wearing my glasses or not :)

And how far away I am from the screen. I'm running 4K on a LG 36" UM7300PUA and without my glasses, at normal viewing distance, I can't really tell the difference between 2K and 4K. I use it both as a primary monitor for the PC, and for gaming.

I also need to regulate the resolution because of graphics card overheating. For example, the beta for Ship of Heroes ran at over 200FPS at 4K!, and generated over 100C of heat. I had to throttle the frame rate down. New World also overheated the card, unless I set frame rate to 70FPS or so. For LOTRO, I run at 2K resolution and high frame rate.

My eyes are deuterating slowly year over year, in another ten years or so, I probably won't be able to tell the difference between 1k or 4k ;)

edit: New World brought to light a faulty closed loop cooler on my system.

I'll be 70 next year and have always needed glasses to see any distance. My vision is 20-200 or worse, meaning what normal people see at 200 feet, I have to get to 20 feet to see. Not supposed to drive without glasses, although I can. I can't read any signs though. That was a problem when I lost my glasses in Germany one time.

As a computer monitor, without glasses, I run at 4K and oversize the font, sitting at a normal distance. If I lean in, I can see the dots. If I lean back, I can't. I can regulate how much I can see just by moving a foot or two.

At 36", sitting just a foot or two away, the screen is bigger than my field of view. Stuff on the edges are in my peripheral vision. it works pretty well for gaming.

You have to be really nitpicking to see any kind of reasonable difference between a 4k and a 2k monitor.

I'd be much more concerned with response time, screen tearing, HDR, contrast ration and things like that over resolution in a desktop screen.

    But that's just me.

I'd agree with you on smaller size monitors, but above 27", you definitely notice the difference.
Of course, if it's to own a 24" 4K monitor and be like 2 meters away from it, it's useless.

I once had a 4 k 27 " and it was super upgrade from my normal 60 hz samsung monitor.
It was like getting 2 new eyes !  But then i RMA it back to hell due to ips glow and dead pixels and the hz rates kept changing on each reboot. It was from ASUS so that is also why im in doubt about the tuf model !

    I have a 27” LG 950.

it’s a nice monitor. It fits on my desk well, it looks sharp. Backlight bleed isn’t bad - it’s there, and you can see it track with local zone dimming, but not too bad looking at other IPS monitors - the local zones do help a lot.

144Hz is nice, colors are bright, the monitor itself looks good. I run at 150% scaling: text and static pictures look great. Stuff in motion, including gaming, doesn’t benefit as much from 4K though.

For the money, if I could have fit an LG C1 OLED I wouldn’t have looked back; I just couldn’t figure out a way to make it fit.

The 950 HDR works. It is noticeably better than non HDR, but if you’ve ever seen an OLED nothing comes close. That, and there isn’t an awful lot on the PC that really uses HDR.

Do you have the GN or GP version ? The gp has 1 more in score compared :D
GN, but I use DisplayPort on my PC so HDMI 2.1 isn't a big loss to me.

The smallest C1 is 48" (that's what we have) and it is so awesome. I wanted to try it out as a computer monitor but I don't think my wife would have been thrilled lol.

Supposed the C2 (2022 version) will come out with a new 42" version, and the newer EVO panels which get just a bit brighter.
