The Elder Scrolls Online's next chapter explores one of the lesser talked about races of Tamriel, the Bretons. Heading to a new location not seen in any Elder Scrolls game in the past, the next chapter titled High Isle takes the MMO's storytelling back to its own roots.

only nit pick so far is them recycling crown crate emotes for the collectors edition bonus. nobody seems to care but me
Terrible combat and performance probably more to do with the shitty Hero Engine they built the game with. SWTOR has some of the same issues. I remember someone in the official forums asked what game engine it was built with, that thread was swiftly locked. I have a feeling it's a bit of a sore spot for their devs.
ESO is not an MMORPG. It's a Single Player Online Role Playing game, or for short - SPORPG.
The game is a piece of trash. I know, because I've played it back in 2015. Before it became a dumbed-down trash aimed at players with the intelligence of kindergartners.
Back in 2015, you could not just pull 2-3 mobs at once and survive unscathed, you got murdered in the most brutal way.
Back in 2015, you could not just solo a Dark Anchor all by yourself. If you ever reached the 2nd wave, you'd be dead before you can say "Oh bother..."
Back in 2015, you could not just solo a world boss, that would be an outright stupid thing to do, unless for whatever reason you wanted to quickly die and respawn at a soul shrine.
In recent they've completely ruined this game. The overland leveling experience of the game is so easy and dumbed down, that even being completely paralyzed and brain dead, you will still find it easy and boring. You run into a pack of mobs, feel your bladder, go take a leak, 3 minutes later your character is still alive and nothing has changed. Leveling is the dumbest part of the game and it's the part of MMORPGs that I enjoy the most. It's a kick in the nuts for me that they made it so easy that its outright insulting.
The other stupid change they made was the level scaling - even more catering to infants and noobs (who are also the vocal minority of whales in the game), they screech the loudest and the whole community suffers because of their childish demands for what the game should be.
The level scaling made the story incoherent, because previously players were forced to go from Zone A to zone B to zone C. Now they can start in Zone D and then go to zone A and wonder why a character that was alive gets assassinated, but is now back alive like nothing happened.
They can't even fix their stupid combat and they have at this point completely gave up on it.
The PvP is an absolute joke in the game - where a level 1 player can end up in PvP against some 40 year old fat sweaty basement dweller no-lifer who plays the game more than he sleeps and the level 1 simply gets 1-shot.
ESO is the biggest trash right now, it goes hand-in-hand with Retail WoW in terms of trashiness.

Now Chapters have devolved into small DLCs. The game is becoming boring. But what I find most striking is they have so much empty space in Tamriel, but are ignoring it:
- they can still milk Skyrim for 3 zones - the island northwest of Vvardenfell, East Skyrim and South Skyrim
- Hammerfell still hasn't been touched
- the area west of Cyrodiil (called Colovia or whatever the f*ck) is still there
- the part of Morrowind east of Vvardenfel is still untouched
- East Black Marsh is still untouched
I find it insulting that they aren't implementing any of those areas into the game, they aren't even looking at the other continents on Nirn:
- Yokuda (provided it hasn't sunken or whatever)
- Pyandonea
- Aldmeris
- Atmora
- (and most importantly) Akavir
I can even swallow all my grievances with the game that I have if at least they provided ACUTAL, REAL, SIGNIFICANT content and story in these chapters, but they are just beating around the bush and that's very disappointing. I don't even know how the ESO fanboys are eating this junk up and think it's "good content". If we remove the Crown store and all cosmetics from the game and all that is left is the content, it's not that much, really.
I don't even think they have added anything significant to the game in terms of mechanics since when I gave up on the game - in November 2019. I've been paying attention to it in hopes that something happens that causes me to want to go back to the game, but they aren't doing anything with the game.
The content is insignificant, the mechanics are boring, it feels like the game is on life support even though it has a healthy population - just that the developers are comfortable with their revenue from the Crown store and they see no reason to continue building upon the game, so they have left it in complete stagnation.
ive played all the other mmos, there isnt some big great superior mmo to ESO , eso is the best there's available right now.
Because veteran dungeons and trials don't exist apparently.
I don't know who kicked you out of a vet group, but I bet you're one of those people who flag healer and go in as DPS.
I HATE that aspect of ESO's "all stories happening at the same time" (as Rich Lambert described it on a stream).
If you're going to tell stories, keep the world internally consistent with those stories for the player.
If I just left Coldharbour after swapping Lyris for the Prophet, then see Lyris hanging out, looking healthy and just fine in Solitude... then the Prophet appears to me, saying "It's time to go rescue Lyris from Coldharbour"... that is seriously messed up.. It undermines the story and the urgency of the situation. I get they wanted it so you can "go anywhere at any time", but this is a really sloppy implementation.
Allow us to mark a given major story arc (from a Chapter or DLC) as our "primary story" so everything in the world corresponds with that. For example, if I've just escaped Coldharbour, and the Molag Bal story is set as my "primary" one, I won't see Lyris hanging out in Solutide, or anywhere else.
That said, this chapter sounds really underwhelming to me. I mean, they said it themselves.... It's generic, bland fantasy. Saying "oh but we're going to dig deep and make the Breton interesting! Trust us!" doesn't mean anything lol.
The last Chapter I really enjoyed, that pulled me in and made me look forward to playing was Summerset.
The last DLC that did the same was Murkmire.
Everything since has felt more and more paint-by-number. And this new one doesn't seem to be changing that.
Wouldn't matter.
With how the game currently works, you would be buying cards to help your opponents. lol
Witty & Wicked
I like ESO best out of the newer ones I've played, with GW2 next after that. My favourite altogether was CoH when it was live, but it has been hard to get that feeling again for me.
Most would put other MMORPGs above it I expect, particularly FFXIV and WoW for those diehard fans still carrying on with the game rather than on exodus.
It's all just taste, preference, and opinion anyway.
ESO is a MMORPG. Satisfying your preference for difficulty, or anything else for that matter, is not a requirement to qualify as one. You can choose to do content other than overland, the easiest in the game, if you want more difficulty.
Level scaling has numerous advantages, not the least of which is the ability to effectively team with others regardless of level disparity. This is useful for guilds that welcome those of all level, and for current players introducing their friends to the game. It works seamlessly and perfectly.
Level scaling didn't made the story incoherent. That was caused by One Tamriel allowing players to play content in the order of their preference. What I would like being added is the ability for newly created characters to have the option of playing through the story in order. This would make it much easier for those that desire it to do so, and still provide the option for the freedom to approach content as desired for those prefer that.
The combat doesn't need to be fixed. It works as is even though some dislike it. There are things that don't work well as is that should take precedence over something that does, like the poor PvP performance people complain about for example.
I always had to wait until level 10 before PvP opened up for my characters, so I have no idea how a level 1 encountered anything in it. By far the majority of complaints I've seen are over performance, followed by balance which seems to be a common PvP gripe.
ESO is one of the more populated MMORPGs, so is enjoyed by many. I can't adventure anywhere in the game world without running into other players doing likewise. During events there is often a fair bit more than I feel comfortable having around me.
Oh well. One man's trash is the treasure of another.
It is a pain, and currently the biggest issue with the game in my perspective. That's why I would like an option added during creation to have the content presented to that character in and orderly and cohesive manner. That would allow the player to choose between that story led focus and the freedom to approach content as desired. I feel that would be a helpful and well received addition to the game.
