I usually like their art direction but everything I've seen in their clips looks off color wise. It's just ugly and distracting

Art direction is cool, but their engine capabilities sucks monkey's ass these days. We're still looking at the game that wasn't impressive graphically even back in 2012. I know MMOs are a different breed sometimes, but over the years I think they've been slacking hard in that area, if You ask me. Loads of flat surfaces and low-res textures/models.

I really don't know how I feel about one of the best settings in gaming history evolving into Jadepunk 2069.

I think they commented on engine improvements some time ago. Or was this just about optimization? Like supporting multiple cores etc.

I was a bit disoriented watching that.

They implemented support of of DX11 last year, which did increase fps by quite alot for me, since i have a "newer" system. but i wondered why they were so slow to update their engine, so i checked the forums the day the patch launched, and boy was i shocked..

there are apparently still ALOT of ppl who plays guildwars2 that runs on old dx9 and win 7 machines..so maybe thats why they havent updated the engine very much, most of their segment uses old machines :)

This is not how I ever imagined Kaineng. I'm a bit speechless (shocking I know). If this is what GW2 players want I'm glad they're finally getting it after 10 years. If there was one content release that could get me to play again it would be Cantha, but this is not for me. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The community has been in straight up civil war because it isn't what they want.

You've got one camp angry because Echovald and Kaineng look totally unrecognizable (Jade Sea looks okay, if very oversaturated), while the other is keen on writing off all criticism as nostalgia and unwillingness to accept advancement.

I think there was a happy medium to be found that they sort of landed with the Jade Sea, and failed on everywhere else.

Landing in the middle on the Jade Sea should be a fairly easy target. It's all jade lol. But even then they still didn't quite get with the massive saturation.

Maybe it is nostalgia for a more civilized time with a team that had a fantastic vision. Both Echovald and Kaineng were already fantastic and larger than life and richly detailed with a gritty visual texture. The modern ANet simply threw that out the window and completely reimagined it for some unknown and insane reason.

This was probably the one content update that could really get me excited to play for a while, but this is not it for me. I'm not the slightest bit interested in whatever this is.
In the Echovald stream, the devs working on it admitted they'd never played GW1 and that infuriated me.

Turning a beautiful gothic petrified forest into another Maguuma map with a goddamn motherfucking tour guide for the cathedral is so disrespectful.

When your game generates C level revenue you will get a group of C level people working on it, not fun but definitely understandable.

    Kyleran on yours sincerely

'But there are many. You can play them entirely solo, and even offline. Also, you are wrong by default.'

Ikcin in response to yours sincerely debating whether or not single-player offline MMOs exist...

'This does not apply just to ED but SC or any other game. What they will get is Rebirth/X4, likely prettier but equally underwhelming and pointless.

It is incredibly difficult to design some meaningfull leg content that would fit a space ship game - simply because it is not a leg game.

It is just huge resource waste....'

    Yeah, I get that.

But also, fuck you, play Cantha through. Familiarize yourself with the basic world you're adapting. It's short. It's literally like 2-3 days to complete.

Well my only experience with Kaineng is they are egotistical assholes in WvW that will toll their own linked servers.

Great fun to kill, as they whine like bitches, horrible to be linked with however.

I loved this game when it launched. It was so different and was going to be unique, so they said back then. But it seems with every expansion it gets worse to me. I have tried to get back into it many times, but I just uninstall it after a few hours of it.

Yah, the Core game was.. captivating.

Just a whole different feel about how an MMO world could be. And as time went on.. it became more and more generic WoW Clone.

    Crying shame.. really.

If they had tried to move off in their own directions, to follow their own path, who knows, they could have really changed how MMO's were made moving forward.
