Is it just me, or would the MMORPG reviewer, based on the review here, give it a thumbs up on Steam?

Certainly seems like a 7/10 is positive, I'm not sure what the anger is about.

Anything less than a 10/10 is an obvious fail. Nuances in subjective opinions are not allowed. If you don't absolutely love it, you're a shill and obviously was not paid enough to love the game.

Like New World the Amazon/Twitch hype is drawing in a lot of players who are new to the genre, but once the initial hype (and Twitch drops) dies down in a few weeks the playerbase will drop drastically. Hardcore fans of the genre will drift back to their PoEs. Mainstream themepark players will hit max level, get bored and uninstall. And streamers? When the drops stop and the viewers stop camping streams for drops and giveaways, bulk of them will move on to whatever the next fad is, while the rest will move back to their bread and butter games, the Dead By Daylights and Phasmaphobias and such.

Utter nonsense. There is no bread and butter game anymore, especially in MMO's, nobody mains a game anymore. People are now able to enjoy multiple games at the same time and are becoming more and more comfortale not "maining" a game after the WoW massive failure never ending cycle of disappointment and people trying out then immediately quitting ffxiv for free and got to see it for themselves that its super niche and made for specific types of people, usually the weebs who arent normal and are OK loving boys with bunny ears.

I will partially agree. I have ESO, STO, GW2, SWTOR, BDO, Elyon, Lost Ark, Broken ranks and FFXIV installed and I play them all depending on events going on ect. I will disagree with the over-generalization of FFXIV players as most who play are not roleplayers. The writing is excellent and extreme trials, dungeons and raid challenges are fun ways for players to push themselves. It's one of the reasons WoW players have made the switch.

Actually I challenge you to prove this, I think you'll find many gamers play one and only one MMORPG at a time, even if mixed in with some other single player titles.

There's even a sizeable number who are more focused like me, who play one and only one game at a time.

MMORPGS take lots of time to achieve anything, so the FOMO and hamster wheel effects strongly encourage player to spend most of their time in them.

I am the same. One MMO at a time with breaks for other games based on patches or updated. I will take a limited short break in march (from Lost Ark) when 76 introduces a big new patch.

Especially PvP players, they play only one gamefor VERY long duration of time. I know League of Legend players who haven't played any other game, not even a single one, for 12 years and counting. My old Quake buddies are STILL playing Quake. No no no, not Quake III, not Quake II... fucking Quake the original.

    None of that even matters?

3 day head start - Get to play early, you can buy the 15 dollar version and still get this
Royal Crystals - Cash shop money for from what I can tell cosmetics
Mount - a mount, you get them free in game
Pet - You get them free in game they just pick up items
    Skin - Cosmetic
    Skin - Cosmetic
Character Expansion slot - You get plenty to start with

The only two that do really anything are -

Card pack - I still don't 100% know what cards do yet but this might be pay to win?
The level 50 ascent chest is somewhat beneficial as it does give daily skip tokens and some currencies

I've been enjoying it, I only bought the 15 dollar pack and had to wait in a queue once when I closed the game because my sound cut out for some reason and it took 20 mins.

Yeah but some are better than others however when playing a korean game you kind of have to go in expecting it to be pretty p2w.

You can play this game and experience the main story and the like without forking any money out HOWEVER if you are competitive you can fork out tons of cash, I fully expect the top guilds to all be heavily p2w.

Fully f2p you can expect lots of grind but then that is expected in korean games.

    Nice write up about it.

Card packs give you cards to build decks that give you certain bonuses. Some sets once combined say 6/6 of a particular set, give you a bonus to those bonuses. It's just another way to customize your build for PvE.

Those bonuses do not translate to PvP abilities. For me it's hard to call anything pay to win when it's outside of PvP.

If you open up the card screen, there is a short tutorial video in the right of the window. It's now in English instead of Korean like it was in beta.

Like I said, STREAMERS will go back to their bread and butter games (and yes, in streamers case it is literally how they get paid and put food on their tables), since a lot of streamers have a main game that they keep to, for the sake of maintaining the community.

The casual gamer nowadays probably don't have a main game, nor the attention or loyalty to stick to one main game, which was exactly my point - once the inital hype dies down they will move on to the next gaming fad.

Personally, when it comes to MMOs I still have a main game that I stick with for months and years at a time, and so do a lot of folks from my generation. But, that's just me.

The platinum pack is one of the best value founder packs I've seen in years.

The exclusive founder skin for Striker(Martial Artist) is basically a Ryu Street Fighter costume(Gi). Maybe a little unrealistic when fighting armored demons but hey w/e it's a video game.

Reminder that the most expensive Devilian founder pack was $150 in 2015... Going back to read some old Devilian articles highlights some of the many ways Hartsman completely drove Trion into the ground... it made me sads... :(

And this game isn't made for "weebs"? Takes seconds to Google pictures of male and female characters wearing bunny ears, cat ears and googly eyes on their tits.

No idea if those cosmetics are available in this version, but it certainly shows that the game has the same general cosmetics design as many/most Asian games. If they aren't available yet you can be they will be in the future.
And so what if there are bunny ears, cat ears, and googly eyes? Don't buy them if you don't want them? How does that change whether the game is fun or not for 530k concurrent players?
I still have to suffer seeing them on others and it burns my eyes and makes me go aaaa. No it does not change the game being fun for 530k players.
Haven't seen any obnoxious player outfits yet, but there some sort of loud, colorful and totally out of place mounts which look like refugees from a Nintendo Pokemon game I saw a streamer riding, hideous looking actually.
