As someone with the physical MO1 collector's edition, I won't touch a StarVault game with a 10 foot pole.

Same, I still have the Jute bag with the statue. I really hoped MO1 would be the new UO back then, and I paid to support them. How wrong was I...

From what I know so far, MO2 is heading the same way than MO1 : nowhere good.

If proved wrong by facts after release, I may purchase it then.

But fool me once... okay. You won't fool me twice.

Slapshot obviously still salty about getting burned from the mo1 shitshow.
Most of us actually got over that and are enjoying mo2.

Then talk and discuss the game and not Slapshot.  Seems odd that not a single defender here can do that.   Not one.

Again:  Please send @Madeuce back   At least he was fun.

You guys have any videos to share showing the catapults and rams and siege engines taking down the keeps?  You guys have any videos showing the towers (or MO2 replacements) for Territory Control?  Please share them.  As far as I know those are not in game yet and are "coming later".

If you asked 100 people who played MO1 what the biggest issue was, I am confident that 90 of them would say "It wasn't finished and was missing too much".

Given that, why do you support the same company, pushing out what is essentially the same game, with placeholders for CORE SYSTEMS and some that are simply missing.  Do you think it's a good thing to launch a Territory Control full loot PvP game where the territory control consists of literally "sieging" a keep with hammers to chip away at the walls?

For those following along... I am not making that up.  "Sieging" is literally 50 guys with hammers hitting walls for 4 hours until they crumble.  That's what they call a Siege.   Just a few days ago Heinrich said they will put in the real Territory Control and Sieging "after launch".  No ETA.

Seems like their Roadmap has been quite consistently met. Fishing in now they're looking to the end of the month updates.

Judging based on what others have said, the history on this game/dev team seems pretty rough. I think I'll go for the slow play "Wait and see"

Nope. Albion does fine with it. It's just another gathering resources thing that can play into the MMOs economy. Depends on how they implement it.
I’d like to mount a small blade to the handle of my rod, just in case.

I’ve always liked what the the guys making Mortal say they would like to achieve.

I just have don’t have a lot of confidence in them getting there.

Yup.  And I will give them Kudos for persistence.  Despite a slight detour to make that 3D cat game (wtf) they keep working on this.  I’m tempted to give it a go at some point, but no way would I buy it pre-release and hope they deliver post release.  I skipped through Heinrichs stream from a few day ago.   He gets credit for what I think was a 6 hour Q&A,  but soooo many of his answers were “will come after release…”

Is it “complete enough” to survive a year (or 10) post launch until all the promised stuff get put in?  I don’t know,  but the fact we even have to ask the question after what happened with MO1 is kind of sad.

I think it’s a labour of love that they might make a deal with the devil for ;)

Hey, I will definitely give them a shot. They just have to be a lot further in development and the combat can’t suck.

If I designed a Mmorpg, it would be designed from the combat up.

They have spent a lot of time on combat (not sieging, but attacking with melee etc...).  The challenge is that they have one server in Europe.  It's a twitch based combat system.  They try to do something they call PING NORMALIZATION .  This is why the combat seems sluggish.  It takes on an almost tactical nature which doesn't necessarily mesh well with "twitch based" combat... but I do not think it's a game killer.  It just takes some getting used to.  Maybe some day there will be a US based server, but they talked about that from the first day of MO and it never materialized.

I really wish you'd all talk about how badly they nerfed fishing right after it was introduced, to the point where it's literally garbage (nerfed vendor value, nerfed amount you can catch to almost nil) and would take a straight year fishing without being ganked to even get a stack of the shittiest scale material in the game (leptoid sucks lots and lots of male genitalia). Let's also talk about how they keep nerfing Haven, keep nerfing Clade Exp, haven't even had the foresight to make multiple servers a thing prior to launch so we had a busted 2 week ban on anyone who left haven day 1, because basically no one could get in without winning the login queue lottery. Let's not talk about how broken TC is, or the fact they weren't ready to add keeps because there's no sieging. Or how the chest force-disconnect bug on the keep is resurfacing after supposedly being patched out, and how you can get duplicated at nodelines and people can hit your duplicate body at a nodeline across the map if you're travelling around, AND KILL YOU from miles away, literally. Let's not talk about how horses cannot even ride over a small rock, jump, have no attributes, cannot be bred, and are 2-3 shot now with the zoology BUFF. How awful balance seems to be getting, they just keep nerfing everything instead of finding a balance, they make one thing so inefficient and bad that the only things left that work seem too good to be true then they get nerfed into oblivion too. Let's not talk about how absolute hot garbage trying to be a mage is in this game, they ****ed that up too just like they did in MO1 by letting guilds literally block the caves with T2 walls you need to siege to get past, except this time, you can't do spiritism without first doing every boss in the game. Let's not talk about how broken T2 boss mechanics are, or how you basically have to zerg them with 100 people to get them done and people still get 1 shot before you can react. Let's not talk about how actual cancer the vessel fight is, or minotaur king is, compared to the other T2 bosses we've had such as nitre queen who at one time was solo-able and is now not, or how nitre queen can be done with 6-10 people but mino king takes literally 50-70 to really have a good shot at doing it because his mechanics are busted he can back-to-back gore you, while slashing, while knocking you up in the air, and forcing you to take fall damage, or how he heals for 100% of the damage he does, and 100% of the damage he takes, and how none of his abilities really have a cooldown. Let's not talk about how you can parry a CAMPODON, a 12 ton elephant with 6 tusks but you can't parry a razorback properly because the animations are bugged, or how about not being able to parry hunter lizards at all (lizard dogs basically, super weak mob, size of your leg maybe.) Let's not talk about how they continouosly nerf mages, mage damage, to the point where you just have lesser heal, purify, and corrupt, and casting anything else except earthquake is pretty much all you'll ever have to do in a large guild.

    Let's not talk about how they had really solid 2 week patches leading up to around june and since then it's been a whole lot of 'misses' with constant bugs and features implemented in half ass states, partial states, here I'll summarize in a small list;
-melee combat is still missing special attacks
-melee combat animations are still using placeholders from spears for certain weapon types
-melee weapon styles were divided into individual books and made extremely hard to get when all through beta it was 2 books to get all the risar styles, now it's like 20-30. One for each head, and each hilt and you need both of them to get the full style. Instead of just like "Risar Daggers" which should unlock both, and would make more sense.
-melee combat is partially implemented; proof; you cannot dual wield, apply poisons, dual strike, overhead strike, use any stances as they're not in, etc., Henrik has openly stated that we're missing special weapon attacks but hasn't spoken about how poleaxes poleswords and spears all use the same ****ing animations.
    -swimming is still partially implemented
-everything about all the pets are in various partially implemented phases
-nodelines/stream lines connecting the map together are still broken and we were promised a permanent fix by early november
-ranged combat just got a huge dunk on it by adding the highest pierce defense plate armor to the game, capable of reaching about 80% damage reduction, plus oghmir clade gift, plus defensive stance means the best bow on the highest strength character in the game will hit you for about 5 damage. Where a hammer will still hit you for 140+ against the best blunt armor in the game.
    -let's talk about riding bears.
-less than half the creatures from the first game
    -less continents
-stopped fixing terrain issues in the summer of last year, instead just kept tweaking or adding things with zero patch notes
-zero communication for how their game works to the public they expect you to waste hundreds of hours trying to figure out stuff because it's the only way they can get you to SUBSCRIBE.
-Clade Exp Nerf after Nerf because they have no idea how to balance things.. Why is level 14 clade gift 1830 exp when zombies give 2 exp per? that's 1000+ kills for 1 level, and why is clade level 17 like 8000 exp? most builds require 20 clade level to really function, look at any thursar build they need higher than clade 20 to really get everything, but then look at oghmir, you only need 14 clade levels to get everything, the last 6 points are entirely optional and/or require a steady supply from an alchemist and so doesnt matter to the general pvp monkey.
-broken mechanics, broken mechanics, broken mechanics..
-let's not talk about how we're missing spell effect animations that indicate if you're fulminated or corrupted, that was in the first game, when it was introduced.

They are literally doing a worse job with more staff.

    everywhere, every single system, weather, towns, nodelines, criminal system. Everything is half baked and people are still eating up this game for one simple reason;

it's first person only skyrim with ur buddies, except the magic sucks ****ing @$$ now and you might as well KYS if you want to do risar camp's solo because every big guild is zerging 24/7 and you'll get your @$$ clapped in about 5 seconds by 20 Mounted Archers/Mages the moment you hangout longer than 5-10 minutes at a camp.

All that said, I want my first person ONLY skyrim-like experience mmo with my friends and so I have sunk about 1400 hours in to the game. There's a lot to love, but it's mostly built on the hope that all of this gets fixed without them continueing to implement half baked systems, which is EXACTLY what they did in MO1, but now it's almost worse. I cannot believe they launched the game the way they did, however all my friends and I are stubborn so we will still play but for many in the community that was the final straw and I don't blame them.

This is entirely a niche game and not for the faint of heart. Especially if you want to be a spiritist, you might as well forget that idea and come back to it in about 2 years of development when it becomes more feasible and isn't locked behind literally the hardest cheesiest bs in the game, all of it, not one thing, but all the hardest cheesiest mechanics because SV doesn't know what the term 'B A L A N C E' means.

Anyone who denies the FACT that the game has a LOT of issues right now is 100% delusional. I have been playing since febuary and watched this game world get built every ~15 days one Batch at a time, and every single time it's cool but they keep doing half baked systems and need a lot more development time before I think they should have released the game. I don't know what is forcing them to go for a subscription at this time when only 15-20% of the game is even there, (5 continents, we have 1/5th of 1 continent in, because we only have about 20% of the stuff that's supposed to be in Myrland available to us.) and honestly that's even a gross over estimation. I hope there are board members on SV that actually give a **** about the product and team they've invested in and are convincing enough to the rest of their peers that they can change the direction of the development for the better. I really hope they walk back and go back to being in a Beta state for another year or two, expand their team, apologize to the community for overpromising and underdelivering. Although I don't care about an apology because it's pointless. Just fix the game you've given us before adding new stuff, and when you do add new stuff, make sure you fix it and then move on to the next thing. The all out zerg they did to build the initial world seems entirely arbitrary to lead up to this launch given the state of things now, and the failed launch. I think the vision and the core game is sort of what they want but it by no means can be considered complete in any shape or form, in fact I would say most of the game is in bad form right now.

There are continuous bugs such as deleting your character, remaking with the same name, while having a horse out will bring it to haven where there's supposed to be no horses. Much less bags.

One simple example is how they add the same "equipment vendor" generic NPC to haven instead of simply duplicating it, and making a "haven" version that doesn't sell bags if that's what they WANTED to accomplish why didn't they simply do that? Why did they break it entirely? who is making these decisions to place npc's without thinking it through? was it the bags that broke the haven statue? did the internal team test ANYTHING prior to "FULL RELEASE" or "LAUNCH"? They say Henrik plays the game but I don't know that any of the rest of the team does. I infact think they hate their own community but none of them are allowed a public appearance, despite the rumors of them all playing in a 'dev guild' which I will not name.

... again, regardless of all this I fully intend to put another 2000 hours in to this game because it is the only hardcore first person ONLY full loot pvpve game out right now. It would've been EXTREMELY nice if it was able to really support 100k players on one server LIKE WE WERE PROMISED, LIKE IS ADVERTISED ON THE MAIN WEBSITE FOR OVER A YEAR, but yet here we are, with a bunch of shard's of the main server, where you can't build, or use the mail, or brokers, or buy horses from the equerry brokers, etc. etc. etc. (problem after countless problem)..

I guess in my old age I just have more patience and optimism than I should.
